Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 554

Inside Abriella’s bedroom.

As soon as the door clicked shut, Emmy spun around, wasting no time.

“Abriella, how can your parents not even remember their own nephew?”

Abriella stared at her, shocked. “Wait—you asked my parents about my cousin?”

“I did,” Emmy said, eyes locked on Abriella’s face. “So, is he really your cousin?”

Abriella avoided her gaze, fiddling with her bag and dropping it onto the couch, trying to act casual. “Of course he’s my cousin.”

“The Sullivan family is huge, you know. We’ve got relatives everywhere—there’s no way my parents remember every single person. It’s honestly normal for them to forget sometimes, right?”

Emmy stepped closer, not buying it for a second. “But Mandy told me the Sullivans and the Nelsons—you know, the Nelsons, as in the top-tier Nelson family from the capital—are related by marriage.”

“And James… his last name is Nelson too.”

“Abriella, if you’re not straight with me, I’ll just go hire a private investigator. One way or another, I’ll find out what’s really going on.”

Abriella felt her scalp tingle under Emmy’s stare, her confidence melting away. Finally, she let out a long sigh, sounding defeated. “What did my cousin tell you?”

“That’s not the point. I want to hear it from you.”

Emmy’s voice turned cold. “Don’t even think about covering for him like you did when you hid your pregnancy. If you and your cousin are trying to keep secrets from me again, I’m done.”

“If you still see me as your best friend, just tell me the truth.”

Abriella’s heart was pounding so hard she thought it might explode.

The truth?

There was no way she could say it out loud.

She never imagined Emmy would come to the Sullivan house today and start digging around about her cousin. Honestly, everyone in the family kept their distance from Mr. Nelson—no one would ever get close enough to actually know James, much less find out his secrets.

The only reason she even knew her cousin was pure luck.

And Abriella did care. She worried about him more than she’d ever admit, always trying to show it in little ways—even though he acted like he barely noticed.

So, when her cousin asked if she knew any college girls willing to get married, she immediately thought of Emmy.

But at that time, Emmy was still stuck on her ex.

When Emmy finally changed her mind, Abriella wasted no time introducing them.

Now? Well…

If her cousin hadn’t told Emmy something himself, there was no way she’d spill. That’s the only reason he trusted her at all—because she knew how to keep her mouth shut.

Abriella grabbed Emmy’s hand, desperation all over her face. “Emmy, it’s not that I don’t want to tell you—I really can’t.”

“If my cousin hasn’t told you himself, how could I possibly go behind his back?”

“And about the pregnancy last time, it was the same thing. I couldn’t say a word. I swear, I’m totally innocent!”
