Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 635

Meanwhile, Abriella’s social media was wide open for everyone to see.

Steve absentmindedly scrolled through his phone, but when he saw her latest post, he froze. His eyes widened, his face turned pale, and all he could feel was shock and disbelief.

Nobody knew better than Steve that James’s crew wasn’t made up of ordinary people.

His hands shook as he called Abriella, barely able to tap her name. The phone rang forever. He was just about to hang up when she finally picked up.

“Hey?” Abriella sounded cheerful, like nothing was out of the ordinary.

Steve gripped his phone so tightly his knuckles turned white. His voice was rough. “Did you... did you really get married to him?”

She laughed lightly. “Yeah. Just signed the papers. They’re still warm.”

It felt like a boulder had landed on his chest. He could barely breathe.

He struggled to get the words out. “Do you even understand what it means to marry him? He’s military…”

“Of course I know. That’s exactly why I rushed to do it.”

She paused, and there was a hint of sarcasm in her voice now.

“You know my parents are always trying to marry me off for the family’s gain.”

“If I marry a soldier, there’s nothing they can do to me, no matter how powerful they think they are.”

Steve felt his heart sink deeper and deeper.

“So what you’re saying is... you didn’t marry him because you love him? You just wanted out of the Sullivan family?”

“I could’ve... Why didn’t you let me...”

She didn’t let him finish. “You could’ve what? The one who came to get me out of the Sullivan mess was him, not you.”

That shut him up completely.

Silence stretched between them, heavy and suffocating.

After a long pause, he finally whispered, his voice hoarse, “I’m sorry.”

“You don’t have to apologize,” Abriella said, sounding almost gentle. “This isn’t your fault. I’m the one who insisted on going against them. I wanted to see if they’d really go so far just for their own interests.”

“But...” Her tone softened. “As a friend, I hope you’ll wish me and Will happiness.”

“And stop bringing me lunch, okay? My husband might get jealous.”

Mandy watched her parents fall apart and felt nothing but jealousy and resentment.

She snapped. “Stop calling her. She blocked all of us ages ago. She’s moved out. She never even thought of you as family.”

“Why even bother with a daughter like that? Just let her fend for herself. You have me. Isn’t that enough?”

Mr. Sullivan shot her a furious look, his eyes full of rage.

Only now did he realize that the daughter he’d raised all these years was hoping to take over everything for herself.

“Shut your mouth,” he thundered. “Get rid of those ideas. You’re just the child we adopted.”

“No matter how wild Abriella acts, she’s still our real daughter.”

“If you hadn’t messed things up with Isabel, would the Sullivan family be in this mess?”

Mandy bit her lip, her eyes swimming with anger and hurt.

Why? They’d raised her for more than twenty years. Didn’t that mean the Sullivan family was hers?

Why should some girl from the countryside, brought back halfway through life, get to steal everything that should have belonged to her?
