Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 639

For weeks, it felt like every day brought a new wave of dirt on Evelina and Claudia. The internet was relentless. Mother and daughter barely had time to breathe, always scrambling to keep up, always one step behind.

At first, Claudia thought she could just send Evelina to prison. Sacrifice her own daughter, cut her losses, and maybe the public would finally calm down.

But Dean had other ideas. He claimed he was protecting Evelina, but really, he locked her up in the Sparrow family’s villa. She wasn’t going anywhere.

The online outrage only got worse. Claudia started thinking darker thoughts. If people believed Evelina had been driven to suicide by the harassment, it would close the case for good. All the blame would land on the angry mob and, more importantly, on Emmy, the person who started it all.

She wasn’t just thinking. She had everything planned. She’d found a body that matched Evelina’s build, ready to fake the whole thing and sneak her real daughter out of the country.

Claudia thought she’d covered every angle. She didn’t realize the military was already onto her. Or that Dean had hidden cameras everywhere.

Meanwhile, inside the Sparrow villa, Evelina was a mess. She paced her bedroom, stopping every few steps, waiting for her mom to show up.

The door clicked open.

Relief flooded Evelina’s face, but it vanished just as quickly when she saw who was standing there.

Not her mother. Dean.

He leaned against the doorway, his whole vibe cold and dangerous, like he’d just stepped out of a nightmare.

Evelina stumbled back, then forced a smile that didn’t reach her eyes.

“Dean. You… you finally came to see me?”

Dean didn’t answer right away. He pulled out a cigarette, lit it, and took a long drag. Smoke curled around him, hiding his expression, making him seem even more distant.

The silence dragged on, heavy and suffocating. Evelina could barely get the words out.

“Where’s my mom? Did she send you?”

Dean blew out a slow cloud of smoke. His tone was flat, almost bored.

“She tried to drug me and Dad, just to get you out of here.”

He paused, his gaze icy.

“Too bad for her, I’m not as dumb as my father.”

He crouched a little, voice low.

“Then why, after all my warnings, did you still go after Emmy?”

Evelina’s face twisted in pain, sweat breaking out on her forehead. She started to crawl backward, sobbing.

“I’m sorry, I swear, I’m sorry, Dean. Please. Please, don’t hurt me. Don’t kill me…”

She was crying so hard she could barely talk.

“For the sake of what we had… please?”

Dean’s eyes flashed. Those words seemed to set him off.

“What we had?”

He stepped forward. His shoe pressed down on Evelina’s back, pinning her to the floor.

She screamed, the sound raw and desperate. No matter how hard she tried to get away, Dean just pressed down harder, like he wanted to crush her completely.
