Emmy hadn’t expected him to care about such a core detail. For a moment, she was caught off guard. Then she smiled, dimples deepening, her eyes open and honest.
“Mr. Nelson, you’ve hit the heart of it.”
“This project is all about supporting farmers. From the start, that’s been our focus.” She leaned in a little, voice steady. “That’s why I decided the Starlight Initiative would have two tracks.”
She lifted a finger. “First, for individual farmers, we don’t sell, we lease. They can use any of our equipment on the Starlight Platform for a tiny fraction of the full price. Plus, we send out our own technicians to operate the machines, free of charge.”
She paused, then added, “Of course, we need to make a living too. Only if we’re profitable can we invest in more research and development.”
She held up a second finger, meeting Jared’s eyes directly. “So, for big domestic agricultural groups, modern farms, and overseas clients, we sell the equipment at market price.”
She didn’t try to hide anything, not even with someone as intimidating as Jared. It was clear she was just as ambitious about making money as she was about helping farmers. Her honesty made her even more admirable.
Jared stayed quiet for a moment, then the corners of his mouth lifted in a rare smile.
He pointed to the media cameras, his tone thoughtful. “You’re very open, Ms. Eincoln.”
“My press team has recorded everything. Every word you’ve said today will be heard across the country.”
His gaze was intense, his presence almost overwhelming. “I hope the Starlight Initiative really does follow the direction you described. Starting today, you’ll have a lot of eyes on you.”
Emmy straightened her back, meeting his stare without flinching.
“We welcome any kind of oversight, Mr. Nelson.”
“If technology doesn’t serve people, it’s meaningless. If we ever forget our original purpose, that’s not just betraying our clients, it’s betraying ourselves.”
She smiled again, confidence lighting up her entire face.
“We won’t let you down.”
Jared’s approval was obvious in his eyes.
…
Her expression turned icy.
“Sylvia, bring him over to me.”
Sylvia hurried over and politely asked Juan to come.
Juan followed her over, a little nervous.
Emmy looked at him, her gaze cold and sharp. “Juan, were you just taking secret photos of me and Mr. Nelson?”
Juan’s heart skipped a beat. He blurted out, “No.”
Emmy didn’t give him a chance to say more. “Do you realize what kind of occasion this was?”
Her anger finally broke through. “Did you really think Mr. Nelson’s security team wouldn’t notice? They spotted you right away and even asked me if you were taking pictures on my orders!”
She was so angry her chest was rising and falling with every breath. “You have no idea how embarrassing that was for me. I can’t believe you messed up like this at such a critical moment.”
