Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 666

Emmy’s eyes went icy cold in an instant.

She twisted her wrist and slipped right out of Juan’s grip.

“Mr. Carter, from now on, please call me Ms. Eincoln.”

She took a step back, putting space between them, her gaze distant and unfeeling.

“And please, focus on your own job. Don’t go worrying about other people’s problems when you haven’t sorted out your own.”

“I hope what happened today doesn’t happen again.”

“Remember, you’re the face of Starlight Corporation.”

With nothing else to say, she turned and walked out of the room, not sparing Juan another glance.

Juan just stood there, frozen. His face kept shifting between pale and flushed with anger. His hands dropped to his sides, fingers curling tighter and tighter until the veins stood out across his knuckles.

Emmy...

She’s always looked down on him.

She always had, ever since they were kids. Back then, her whole world was Dean. She’d trail after him everywhere, like his little shadow, never once giving Juan a second look.

And now?

Now he was the CEO of Starlight Corporation. Mr. Carter, respected and admired by everyone.

Did that really mean nothing? Was he still not as good as Dean, who ran into burning buildings for a living?

Why did she still look at him like he’d never be enough?

Juan’s chest heaved as he tried to swallow down the bitterness and humiliation.

But it was fine. He could wait.

He’d land the deal with Summer Inc. He’d bring Starlight Corporation profits like never before. When that happened, he’d see if Emmy still looked at him the same way.

Her voice was gentle. “Just relax. We’ll go check it out for you.”

Sylvia nodded, backing her up. “Yeah, get some sleep. Tomorrow morning we’ll show you around.”

Emmy made a little noise of agreement. “Okay, you guys go have fun. Just bring back some snacks for me.”

“Of course!” Abriella grinned.

She linked arms with Sylvia and grabbed Krystina’s hand, practically bouncing with excitement. It felt like she’d known these two forever, and she’d already forgotten about her husband waiting outside.

“Will! Take care of our Emmy!” she called, then swept her new best friends out the door and down the hall.

Will shook his head, half smiling as he watched them disappear. When they were gone, he closed the door and found a quiet spot to call James.

“James, she’s back in the room. Everything’s fine, just looks really worn out. The others are going to check out the town. I’ll be right outside the door, don’t worry.”

Emmy was sprawled on the bed, so exhausted she didn’t even think to wash up. Her eyelids kept getting heavier, and she was almost asleep when her phone buzzed next to her pillow.
