Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 691

Mrs. Nelson didn’t look the least bit surprised. She kept going, “Emmy is the director over at Starlight Corporation. Right now, she’s working on an agricultural aid project, which just so happens to line up with my husband’s charity work.”

“My husband’s really interested in this project. He’s thinking about working with her more closely. Teresa, you really raised an incredible daughter.”

Agricultural aid?

That just sounded poor and unfashionable.

The ladies exchanged glances, a little skeptical at first, but then the real meaning dawned on them.

The head of the Nelson family was not only a key figure in the cabinet but also a favorite for next year’s election. Projects like this might not earn much, but they were gold for reputation and political achievements.

Suddenly, the whole vibe in the pavilion changed.

“Oh, so it’s Ms. Eincoln’s project! That’s really impressive, especially for someone so young.”

“Yes, absolutely. Most young people these days only care about having fun, but Ms. Eincoln is out here making a real difference. She’s a role model for our own kids.”

“Teresa, you’re so lucky. With a daughter like that, her future is boundless.”

Someone couldn’t wait any longer and leaned in, “Teresa, you have to tell us—how did you manage to raise such an amazing daughter?”

Teresa placed a single white lisianthus into the vase, her smile soft and calm.

“You’re all being too generous.”

“It’s really her own doing. I can’t take much credit.”

“She’s always had her own ideas, even when she was little. She likes to figure things out for herself. All I really did was support her and try not to get in her way.”

Her response was the perfect blend of modesty and confidence, never bragging but never sounding small.

The other ladies chimed in with more praise about her humility, each one secretly running their own calculations in their heads.

The conversation drifted back to their husbands’ careers. Teresa mostly listened, only joining in when someone addressed her directly.

Another lady jumped in right away, her tone full of admiration.

“It’s so true. Everyone knows your taste and talent are unmatched in our circle. Every time we do flower arranging with you, I learn something new.”

“I couldn’t agree more. I picked up so many tips today. Mrs. Nelson, your color choices are absolutely perfect.”

The ladies piled on the compliments, one after another, smoothly ignoring Teresa and her work as if her beautiful arrangement had never existed at all.

Mrs. Nelson listened to the praise, but she didn’t even crack a smile. She waved her hand, brushing it all aside. “Alright, it’s just a flower arrangement. Let’s head to the tea room.”

She got up first, leading the group out of the conservatory, the others falling in around her.

As everyone moved, Teresa naturally found herself at the very back. She didn’t mind. She took her time, strolling along and enjoying the view.

Just then, a woman in a simple dress slowed down, waiting for Teresa to catch up. When they were side by side, she lowered her voice.

“Did you cross Mrs. Nelson somehow?”
