Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 821

Dean blinked, his eyes sharpening as he took in the man in front of him. Brian Nelson.

He hadn’t expected to see Brian here. Last year, Dean had teamed up with him overseas for one reason only—to take on the other, more formidable Mr. Nelson. Brian had already been back in the city for a while, so why was he showing up now, rushing to the family estate like he was still an outsider?

Dean put it together almost instantly. He stubbed out his cigarette, a hint of a smile tugging at his lips. “Mr. Nelson.” He nodded, his voice calm and cool, like they’d just bumped into each other on the street. “Mrs. Nelson lived a remarkable life. I came to pay my respects, but it looks like I can’t even get through the door.”

Brian’s expression was polite, but there was an awkward tension behind his smooth features. “Mr. Sparrow, it’s not that I don’t want to help you. Things are different this time. My mother personally decided who could attend before she passed, and no one gets to change her mind now. If I brought you in without permission, it would be a serious offense. I’m afraid you’ll have to leave disappointed.”

Brian wasn’t fooled by formalities. He knew Dean didn’t show up anywhere without a reason. If Dean wanted in, it was probably to sniff out some dirt on his nephew, James. That played right into Brian’s hands.

Dean frowned, about to argue, but Brian cut in, his tone shifting. “Still... it’s not totally impossible. If you’re willing to hand over that overseas solar project to me, full control, I might be able to find a way to get you inside. You could see for yourself how my dear nephew put this whole memorial together.”

Dean raised an eyebrow. “You really don’t miss a chance, do you?”

Brian smiled, just a little. “If I sneak you in, my nephew will only have more reason to hate me. That’s a risk, and risks should be rewarded.” He leaned in, dropping his voice. “Besides, Mr. Sparrow, I think you and I want the same thing.”

Dean went quiet. He stared at the wet ground, thinking it through. The solar project was worth a fortune. It was a huge part of his plans for the future. But right now, none of that mattered as much as getting to the truth.
