Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 93

“Change the location?” Aidan stared at her like she’d just suggested moving to Mars. “Ms. Lincoln, there’s honestly nowhere better! The area, the amenities, the size—it’s all top notch.”

He rushed to add, “And we’ve been after that spot forever. I already agreed to their terms for you! If we back out now, we’ll end up on Mr. Nelson’s bad side.”

Emmy felt a headache coming on. She rubbed her forehead and sighed. “Alright, when’s the meeting?”

“They said they’ll work around your schedule, Ms. Lincoln.” Aidan’s voice turned serious. “Also, I found something weird. Fiona’s account got a five hundred thousand dollar transfer from a virtual card—the day before the fire. Someone probably paid her off.”

Emmy’s gaze turned cold.

Did Fiona really lock her in the office after the fire started?

“One more thing. The autopsy report says Fiona was hit hard on the back of her head before she died. And the fire started with her electric car—it blew up in the garage while she was nearby.”

Emmy’s brow tightened.

The car exploded in the underground garage, and the fire spread upstairs later… which meant Fiona couldn’t have been the one who locked her in the office.

So, who was it?

The thought left Emmy uneasy and restless.

After Aidan left, Emmy checked the time. Her heart skipped a beat.

It was almost dinner.

The idea of seeing James made her suddenly anxious.

But she got up and went to the kitchen, throwing herself into cooking. She even made an extra fancy dish this time, just because.

The food came together quickly, filling the place with delicious smells.

But she barely touched her plate. After a few bites, she grabbed her bag and headed out.

Dinner’s on the table. I’m heading home for a bit.

Teresa stopped in her tracks, her face falling. “Did he do something to you?”

“No.” Emmy hesitated, then finally said, “Mom, I did something I shouldn’t have. I don’t know how to face James.”

Teresa stared, looking both worried and confused, a million thoughts clearly running through her head.

Emmy saw her expression and quickly added, “Mom, it’s not what you think! Nothing happened between me and Mr. Nelson. It’s something else.”

Teresa let out a long breath and sat on the edge of the bed, looking a little worn out.

“You always said you’d never catch feelings for him. So why does it bother you so much?”

Emmy looked down, her voice small. “It’s not about feelings. I promised James I wouldn’t betray him while we’re married. But now… I just can’t forgive myself.”

Teresa sighed. “So you came home just to hide from him?”
