The whole room was left in shock when Mrs. York took that bold step. Serena was so startled she couldn't even cry, and that included both Quintessa and Tyrone. No one could have imagined that the gentle, somewhat naïve Mrs. York, who usually avoided conflicts, would out of nowhere slap Mrs. Harrington so fiercely!
The sound alone was enough to make one's face ache. Mrs. Harrington's face was turned to the side from the force, her body staggering. Mrs. Harrington was dumbfounded, staring at Mrs. York with a face full of shock.
"How dare you hit me? What gives you the right?"
Mrs. York raised her hand for another slap: "I should have done this long ago. After all the schemes you pulled on me over the years, you really thought I was clueless? I've only spared you time and again out of respect for your father. But you've crossed the line, time after time, pushing your luck. I warned you, stay away from Quintessa. This time, it's just a slap. If you dare continue your antics, I'll make sure you and your family won't be able to mingle in society again. Mark my words."
It was probably the most assertive thing Mrs. York had ever said in her life. Her patience with Mrs. Harrington had reached its limit. The words she spoke yesterday weren't a joke. In fact, Mrs. York rarely joked around. It's just that her kind demeanor had led Mrs. Harrington and many others to take her words lightly. But little did they know, once she made a decision, she seldom changed her mind.
In this aspect, Tyrone was just like her. Every word Mrs. York said yesterday was true. She genuinely despised Mrs. Harrington's demeanor. Why should she think she's above everyone else? What makes her so special?
