Dinner was winding down when Quintessa excused herself for another quick trip to the restroom, returning much sooner this time.
Andrew was surprised to see her back so soon.
Shortly after, a waitress came in, carrying a bottle of red wine and two glasses already filled.
Quintessa's lips curved into a smile as she looked at Andrew. "Looks like we're almost done with dinner, and I haven't yet had the chance to toast Mr. Yates. I'm terribly sorry. I can't handle my liquor, especially not the hard stuff, but I can manage a bit of red wine."
She reached for the two glasses of red wine on the waitress's tray.
"Here's to Mr. Yates, in gratitude for your investment in our film. You wouldn't deny your niece this honor, would you... Uncle?"
Andrew immediately sensed something was up. Was Quintessa really playing it straight?
But the others were egging him on, and with Quintessa calling him uncle, it would seem rude not to accept, wouldn't it?
Andrew nodded. "Alright! For the sake of being called uncle, I can't deny you the honor."
He took the glass Quintessa handed him.
Quintessa clinked her glass against his, tilted her head back, and downed most of the wine in one go. "There, I've had mine. Uncle, please, at your leisure."
The room went quiet. It was as though she was forcing him to finish his drink. But it was just a glass of red wine. What harm could it do?
Andrew's suspicions grew. What was she up to?
