Escape from Mr. Whitman (Emma and Theodore) novel Chapter 443

As the tempo slowed, so did the dancers. The once-crowded floor began to clear, and soon, Emma and Sebastian found themselves with more and more space.

The music was enchanting, a soulful love song that captivated them completely. With their hearts full of unspoken feelings, they were oblivious to their surroundings. Lost in the melody, they transitioned seamlessly into a traditional partner dance, their movements flowing together as if they’d rehearsed it a hundred times.

Once they started, they couldn’t stop.

It didn’t matter that the floor around them had emptied.

It didn’t matter that everyone else had returned to their seats to watch.

In that moment, all that existed was the dance.

After six months of grueling physical therapy, Emma had made incredible progress. Moves she once had to fake her way through, she could now execute with eighty percent of her former grace. The lifts, in particular, were stunningly beautiful.

Sebastian, wanting nothing more than to showcase her beauty, incorporated one lift after another, each one more breathtaking than the last. Emma was wearing a red wool dress under her down coat, and its wide skirt flared out around her as she spun, a breathtaking sight that had other diners pulling out their phones to record.

When the music ended, the room erupted in applause.

Emma was stunned to realize they were the only ones left dancing. Everyone, including the hotel’s professional performers, was on their feet, clapping for them.

People gave them thumbs-ups, and a few young women rushed over, asking where they were from and what kind of dance it was.

“We’re from Crestmont,” they said in unison. “It’s a traditional dance.”

“That was amazing,” one girl said, her eyes shining as she looked at Emma. “Are you an angel?”
