Escape from Mr. Whitman (Emma and Theodore) novel Chapter 448

She truly had no interest in Theodore’s finances, but she couldn’t just ignore three major donations made in her name.

She decided to unblock him to ask about it, but when she tried to send a message, a red exclamation mark appeared next to it. *This person is no longer on your friends list.*

He had deleted her. After making those huge donations in her name, he had cut the last tie between them.

She clicked on his profile. His background image was an AI-generated drawing of two hands gently holding a butterfly in flight. His status had been changed to a single line: *May all the happiness in the world be hers.*

She thought of Cathie Marshall. Cathie had recently had her baby, and her social media was now filled with adorable updates. Emma had sent her a gift a while back.

Checking the time difference, she figured Cathie would be awake and sent her a quick message. Cathie replied almost immediately, and they started catching up. Emma eventually steered the conversation to the company.

*“It’s been sold. Hanley’s been swamped with the handover and final accounts, but it’s all done now. They got a payout from the sale, but Theodore didn’t take his share. He didn’t want a single cent. He divided it all up among the partners, so Hanley got the largest portion.”*

So that was it. Then where had the donation money come from?

She couldn’t figure it out and decided to let it go. He had deleted her. They were truly strangers now, which was the ending she had always wanted. The donations still weighed on her, but at least it was for a good cause. People would benefit.

“What are you looking at?” Sebastian’s voice broke through her thoughts. “Time to head home for dinner.” He already referred to her aunt’s house as “home.”

As she closed the chat, she moved a little too slowly, and Sebastian caught a glimpse of Theodore’s name in her conversation with Cathie.

His expression shifted into that familiar, kicked-puppy look. “I didn’t mean to see, but… why are you guys still talking about him?”
