Escape from Mr. Whitman (Emma and Theodore) novel Chapter 493

She once believed that with love, two people could always find a way to compromise, to understand each other, and to overcome the little things that weren’t deal-breakers. Now, she wasn’t so sure.

When they got home, she ate a few bites of food, went through her evening routine mechanically, and went straight to bed. She needed to think, to clear her head. And she knew she wouldn’t figure it out overnight.

The next morning, Sebastian showed up with breakfast.

“I already ate,” Emma said. She’d had a simple bowl of oatmeal and a piece of toast.

“Are you still mad at me?” he asked, moving to hug her. “We shouldn’t go to bed angry. Let’s talk about it and solve it right now.”

Emma forced herself to stay calm and nodded. “Fine. Let’s solve it. Sebastian, as I see it, you can only set expectations for yourself. I can say with a clear conscience that I have done nothing wrong. I have been completely devoted to you every single day we’ve been together. But life is long, and the world is big. I can’t live in a bubble with only you. I will interact with other people, and that includes Theodore. He exists in this world, and I can’t control whether or not he shows up.”

“I get it, I get it. I was out of line yesterday. I’m sorry,” he said, taking her hand and giving it a little shake.

“I need you to really get it,” Emma said seriously. “Trust is the foundation of any relationship.”

“I know, baby. I’m sorry…” He pulled her into another hug. “Can we go to practice now? Please?”

Emma nodded. “Let’s go.”

In the dance company, Emma was the primary choreographer, but her job was no less demanding than the dancers’. She would demonstrate every movement for each performer, including Sebastian’s lead role. On top of that, she had her own grueling training regimen. By the end of most days, she was so exhausted she could barely lift her feet.

Thankfully, the dancers were all exceptional and morale was high. They were all determined to shine at the international festival, and everyone was putting in their all.

Chapter 493 3

Sebastian’s gaze swept dismissively around the small shop. “How much for this place?”

“What?” Theodore didn’t understand.

“I said, I want you to close this shop. I’ll buy it.”

Theodore understood then. It was easy to forget that Sebastian, with his single-minded devotion to dance, was the heir to an immense fortune.
