Escape from Mr. Whitman (Emma and Theodore) novel Chapter 511

After the celebration, Emma went home with her brother to their aunt's house.

Her grandmother and aunt gently scolded her for not telling them she was performing herself. They would have flown to Edinburgh to support her in a heartbeat.

Not wanting to worry her grandmother about the trouble within the troupe, Emma simply said, "I wanted to surprise you," and let the matter drop.

There would be plenty of other opportunities for them to see her perform.

She had planned to give the dancers a few days off, but to her surprise, their enthusiasm was at an all-time high. The next day, their social media was filled with posts from the practice studio.

Their dedication inspired her. What right did she have to rest? After a short visit with her family, she returned to the troupe.

She left after dinner the next day, arriving back at her house near the campus late in the evening. The street was silent, bathed in the soft glow of the streetlights.

Allen and his team had driven her home.

As the car came to a stop, Emma pushed the door open. The moment her foot touched the ground, it was as if she had triggered a switch. With a soft click, a series of warm, yellow lights flickered on one by one in her front yard. Small ground lights formed a giant, glowing heart that filled the entire lawn.

In the center of the heart was a sea of roses.

Music began to play—the score from their ballet.

Sebastian stood in the middle of the heart-shaped rose garden. He wore his usual look of deep affection, his eyes moist and pleading as he watched her. In his hands, he held a massive bouquet of green Scottish roses, and he extended a hand toward her. "My baby, my leading lady. Congratulations on your successful performance."
