Lindsey always trusted her nephew somewhat, and she was about to tell him, but suddenly, a thought struck

her.

Donnie was over forty, practically her son. He had managed her businesses and helped look for Yvonne all these years.

But, did he really fail to find her all these years?

Why was it that when she simply avoided him and searched independently, she found a clue to her whereabouts?

Lindsey swallowed the words she was about to say and changed her statement. “An old friend I haven’t seen in a long time came to find me to catch up. Nothing major.”

Donnie belatedly realized that Lindsey was wary, so he quickly reined himself in and asked no further questions.

Later, waiters rolled in a nine–tier cake. Everyone offered toasts wishing Lindsey a long and prosperous life.

Lindsey accepted the well wishes with a hearty smile, completely omitting the original announcement. The event truly became an ordinary birthday banquet.

Tatiana noticed the change in dynamic between the elderly lady, Donnie, and Emily. She couldn’t help but whisper, “They seem to be having a falling out.”

Jasper raised an eyebrow. “How do you know?”

“I can tell. She seems displeased, but I don’t know what Happened.”

“She’s not completely foolish.”

“Hmm?”

“The businesses under her name have been controlled by Donnie for years. He’s still playing the dutiful role until the moment they completely sever ties. I heard Mdam Lindsey’s health is not good, and her time is limited. He won’t need to play nice for much longer to get everything.”

Tatiana suddenly felt a touch of pity and sympathy for indsey.

“Feeling sorry for her?”

She shook her head. “Just lamenting.”

“The struggles in affluent families are often far more bral than this.”

She started to worry about their two children.

Sensing her deeper concern, Jasper spoke with certainty “You don’t need to worry. Before I hand the Jackson family over to them, I will remove every single pail, leaving no future troubles.”

“That is your inheritance.”

“It’s theirs, too. No one else’s.”

She was about to retort, How can you be so sure? but then he remembered his self–imposed ‘severed lineage‘ status and closed her mouth.

Midway through the banquet, she felt tired and didn’t want to stay any longer.

Jasper suddenly leaned closer, whispering by her ear, “Want to leave together?”

Her eyes lit up. “Can we? Wouldn’t that be rude?”

Leaving a banquet midway was very impolite.

“No, no one is paying attention to us.”

“Why don’t you look around and see how many people are staring at you?”

“Those people are irrelevant.”

“You are truly shameless.”

“Do you want to stay here and continue being scrutinized?”

She hesitated.

He reached out, tempting her. “I’ll take you out the back door; no one will notice.”

And so, the two of them left, one after the other.

They took the side entrance.

They happened to bump into another group of people.

Dan, escorted by several bodyguards, was heading to the location Lindsey had arranged for him to stay temporarily, just as Jasper and Tatiana slipped out.

When Dan looked up, he saw Jasper. His gaze locked on o him and refused to move.

He looked as if he had seen a ghost.

Jasper glanced back, found no recognition, and withdrew his gaze, leading Tatiana away.

Dan pointed at Jasper’s receding figure, stammering, “I, it’s, it’s him. That child from back then looks just
