Chapter 78 Go Through the Process

The following morning, right after stepping into the Moon-Shadowed Pack’s office building. I made a beeline for the HR department. As expected, the onboarding procedures for Lily and the other team members had hit a snag, and the company privileges I was entitled to under the wager agreement remained “in progress”.

The reply I got was that it awaited the approval of the pack’s shareholder meeting. It dawned on me at once that Samuel was behind this mess. A closer look at the wager agreement revealed an additional clause, “The agreement will take effect after more than half of the core shareholders have approved the process.”

This meant that despite fulfilling the wager, I had to wait for the shareholder meeting, controlled by Samuel and Penelope, to finish the process before getting the corresponding management rights in Moon-Shadowed Pack. And my power to directly approve Lily and the others’ onboarding would only kick in after my own rights were activated.

Penelope had claimed to be ill, and several core shareholders who backed her had all vanished into thin air. Since I couldn’t even meet them, they could drag out this process as long as they pleased.

“Damn it, Natalie. Samuel is such a snake,” Lily grumbled when she heard about it.

I fell silent for a moment, then let out a cold chuckle. Samuel was clearly trying to provoke me into losing my temper in front of Moon-Shadowed Pack’s top management, so they’d start doubting my capabilities and qualifications.

“Fine, if we have to go through the process, then let’s do it,” I said, taking a deep breath. I then told my assistant, “Get me all the details of the company’s core members right away.”

A few hours later, in my capacity as the heir to Alexander’s estate, I officially called a meeting of the Pack’s core members.

Samuel was in the middle of a meeting with his faction when he received the email. I could only imagine his shock and the confusion of those senior executives. Everyone knew that the real power in the pack still rested in his and Penelope’s hands, the latter being on sick leave.

Samuel must have said, with a hint of amusement, “Alright, folks, that’s all for now. The meeting is dismissed. I’ll go and see what this is all about.” He probably wanted to witness me making a fool of myself.

He was the first to reach the conference room. My assistant and I were already seated at the

Samuel sneered, his Alpha-exclusive pheromones wafting around subtly, “Natalie, what’s the point of all this? You don’t have the official authority to run the pack in the company yet. I bet no one’s gonna show up for this meeting.”

“Well, you did,” I shot back without looking up.

He let out a scornful laugh and fell quiet, idly checking his watch.

As minutes ticked by, half an hour later, there were still just the three of us in the room.

“Natalie, how long are you gonna keep waiting?” Samuel’s patience was wearing thin, his voice dripping with more mockery. “Why not wait until my mom gets better and then hold the meeting?”

I glanced at the time and said calmly, “Chill out. They’ll be here any minute.”

Just then, the conference room door swung open.

Samuel, who had been slouching in his chair, sat up straight in an instant.

In walked two of the four core shareholders! They were die-hard supporters of Penelope and, under normal circumstances, would never have attended a meeting called by me!

The two elderly shareholders rushed in, avoiding eye contact with Samuel. Looking pale and dejected, they took seats beside me.

Samuel’s breathing grew heavy. He planted his hands on the conference table, his face a mask of disbelief.

The news spread like wildfire. In no more than five minutes, all the hesitant top brass of the company rushed to the conference room, quickly filling every seat. Those who had previously ignored me were now all smiles, offering all sorts of flimsy excuses for their lateness and acting super respectful.

The conference room was dead silent, the seriousness in the air so thick you could cut it with a knife.

I checked my watch and coolly said, “No point waiting any longer. Let’s kick this off.”

Right away, the assistant shut the conference room door.

Samuel looked like he’d seen a ghost, his face as white as a sheet and his knuckles turning white from how hard he was gripping his hands.
