The voting results were finally out, and I was officially granted the access rights. As I sifted through the system-generated meeting minutes and the access list, one detail caught my eye. The number of votes in my favor was five, not the four I’d anticipated-mine, Samuel’s reluctant one, and those of the two “persuaded” shareholders.
Curiosity piqued, I delved into the system and discovered a new name on the Scott Group’s shareholder list-Leonardo.
Half an hour before the meeting, he’d completed the acquisition of the last batch of minority shares, thus becoming eligible to vote. As soon as the meeting notice went out, he didn’t hesitate to cast his vote for me.
It was obvious that Leonardo had done it on purpose. Without my knowledge, he’d quietly removed a potential obstacle, ensuring my absolute victory.
A flood of emotions washed over me-surprise, gratitude, and a faint, indescribable flutter. He always supported me in ways I couldn’t see, and his kindness felt like a heavy weight on my
heart.
I was eager to reach out and thank him right away. But as I hovered my finger over the phone, I felt that a simple “thank you” was far too inadequate. Remembering the precious gifts he’d given me before and my promise to reciprocate, I decided to get one for Leonardo.
It was just shy of six in the evening. I decided to head to the high-end luxury mall downtown. I needed to find a gift worthy of his silent backing.
Samuel’s POV:
After my outburst in the office, I managed to calm down and dialed Penelope’s number.
“We’ve been had! Those two old guys switched sides at the last minute!” I growled into the phone, struggling to contain the angry pheromones of a defeated man.
Penelope’s voice on the other end was as cold as ice. “What’s going on? Weren’t they on our side?”
“Natalie somehow found out about the shady deals they’ve been involved in with us! She threatened them that if they didn’t support her takeover, she’d crash the Scott Group’s stock price. They couldn’t take the risk. That crazy woman might actually do it!”

I was so furious that my chest ached. Those sneaky old foxes hadn’t even given me a heads-up!
“And it gets worse.” I almost ground my teeth. “Leonardo…. He’d been secretly buying up minority shares. Just before the meeting, he became the eighth shareholder and voted for her.
There was a long silence on the line. The involvement of Silver-Maned Pack had changed the entire game. This was no longer just a battle for inheritance within Moon-Shadowed Pack; it had pulled in the power of another top-tier pack.
“We underestimated her and how much Leonardo values her. For now… don’t go head-to-head with her. See what she wants and what she can do,” Penelope said.
I hung up the phone and punched the desk hard. “Natalie! Leonardo! You think you’ve won? The inheritance of Moon-Shadowed Pack won’t be taken so easily. Just you wait!”
Landon’s POV:
My car rolled into the garage of the downtown high-end mall.
Inside, Aaliyah sat there, tears streaming down her face, looking completely heartbroken.
These past couple of days had been a living nightmare for her. First, my mom had kicked her out of the house, and then my dad had embarrassed her big-time at the company.
It took me two whole days to finally find the guts to go see her. I knew she’d been through hell.
I said gently, “Come on, sweetie. Knock it off with the crying. I told you I’d make it up to you. Today, you can buy whatever your heart desires. We just gotta get through this rough patch, so hang in there, okay?”
After all, Aaliyah was my mate. I couldn’t just be all about the company. Right then, the only way I could comfort her was to spoil her with the things she loved.
She’d been stuck at home, and I pretty much had to drag her out to unwind. Aaliyah turned her head away, not in the mood to talk, but I still reached out and grabbed her hand tightly.
“Promise me you won’t let Natalie back into the company and won’t give her half of the shares!” she pleaded.
“Sure thing, honey. I promise.” I forced a smile.
I didn’t have the nerve to tell her that Natalie’s return to the company was a done deal.
My dad had laid down the law. No matter what, we had to get Natalie back to fix the mess in Thorn Pack.
