Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 28

Nathan glanced at Sebastian, then at Lillian, his face a perfect picture of confusion.

Lillian took a deep breath, wishing she could slap herself twice, hard. What kind of water had been in her brain back then? How had she only seen Sebastian’s academic excellence and his so-called outstanding qualities? Besides, hadn’t he just publicly escorted Bella out of the event? What was he doing back here?

Nathan knew it was his moment to step up for her.

“I also know she has a child,” he said calmly.

Sebastian’s expression darkened further.

“I didn’t realize Mr. Cole had such... peculiar tastes.”

Nathan shot back, “Mr. Blake, you look very handsome tonight. You and Miss Ward make a stunning couple, a perfect match.”

Sebastian’s face flushed. He felt that Nathan’s pronunciation was a bit off, but he chose to believe it was because he’d had too much to drink and his tongue was numb. Lillian knew Nathan was trying to defend her, but she didn’t want to drag him into her mess.

She stepped forward. “Sebastian, we’ve already said everything that needs to be said.”

Sebastian addressed Nathan again. “My apologies, Mr. Cole, but I’m afraid I’ll have to borrow your assistant.”

With that, he grabbed Lillian and began dragging her towards his car. He had indeed intended to take Bella home, but the moment the cold air hit him outside, his mind was consumed by images of Lillian and Nathan exchanging flirtatious glances. He didn't care what Bella did; he had to warn Lillian. She was a married woman, a mother. Behaving so disgracefully in public would tarnish his and his son's reputation when people started talking.

Lillian was so sick of these men, always acting without her consent, grabbing her, even dragging her with force.

Nathan immediately started to follow, but Sebastian was faster. He pushed her into the car and ordered the driver to go.

Fearing something might happen, Nathan quickly called for his own driver and gave chase.

Late at night, the two cars entered the elevated highway and began a high-speed pursuit.

Sebastian urged his driver, “Run the red light up ahead. Don’t stop.”

Lillian cried out, “Sebastian, are you insane?”

Sebastian glanced behind them. Nathan’s car was tailing them closely.

Lillian said, “Sebastian, I sent you the divorce papers a long time ago. I told you, I don't want anything. I'll walk away with nothing. What more do you want?”

Sebastian retorted, “Divorce? Fine. But only if you agree to give Noah a little brother or sister.”
