Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 37

Lillian smiled and hung up the phone before walking back to Brandon.

“Let’s go.”

Brandon let out a sigh of relief. Thank goodness, she had agreed.

Lillian didn’t get into Brandon’s car. That car was probably now the designated transport for Bella and that Hannah woman. Leonard had arranged a car for her, so Lillian got into the Maybach instead, avoiding a potential argument with Brandon on the way. He just had that uncanny ability to be infuriating, to get under her skin.

At the Mercer estate, Sabrina personally brought a new pair of slippers and placed them at Lillian's feet.

“Lillian, your father bought these for you specially. They’re the brand you used to always wear.”

Yes, the classic brown designer slippers she had always worn at home. Now, Sabrina and Bella were wearing them too. They had probably gotten used to them over the past two years.

Lillian nudged the slippers aside with her toe and walked into the house without changing, tossing a comment over her shoulder. “I’m used to the ones from prison now.”

Her words made the smile on Sabrina’s face freeze.

Sabrina had been prepared for a cold shoulder from Lillian, but she hadn’t expected such a powerful blow the moment she walked in the door.

Normally, Martin would have already rushed over to discipline Lillian. But today, Sabrina glanced at him and saw that while his expression flickered, he kept his smile.

“If you don’t want to change, you don’t have to. Lillian is back in her own home; she can do as she pleases.”

Bella helped the squatting Sabrina to her feet. Sabrina subtly shook her head, signaling Bella to control her emotions.

Bella nodded, a smile gracing her face as she hurried upstairs to bring Noah down.

Lillian was surprised. They had really gone all out for today's performance. They had even brought Noah out of the hospital to be part of the act. Their goal must be something significant.

Brandon coaxed Noah, “Noah, call for Mommy. Go give your mommy a big hug and kiss.”

Noah looked up at Bella, who smiled and nodded at him.

Noah seemed less resistant than before, walking towards Lillian step by step.

After two years, Lillian heard her son call out, “Mommy.”

In that instant, a storm of complicated emotions churned within her. It was a bitter feeling.
