Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 84

Leonard lent Ethan to Lillian, and with such a capable assistant, the company was established with remarkable ease.

When Ethan led Lillian into her own CEO’s office, she still felt a bit dazed.

She ran her fingers over the surface of the executive desk, took a deep breath, and looked at Ethan. “I’ve never managed a company before.”

Ethan replied, “Ms. Mercer, my employer asked me to assist you. You can come to me for anything you need. I will handle all management-related matters for you.”

Lillian said, “Thank you. On my way in, I saw a floral arrangement from Nathan.”

“Mr. Cole is waiting for you in the conference room.”

Lillian nodded and walked out of her office.

In truth, this company was entirely Leonard and Nathan’s idea.

Nathan was holding a large bouquet of sunflowers. When he saw her approaching, he handed them to her.

“Congratulations, Li. From today on, you have your own company.”

Lillian couldn't help but feel a mix of amusement and bewilderment.

“Thank you. It was a moment of impulse. When Leonard brought it up, I just agreed. But now, I’m completely clueless. After all these years, I’m still just the girl who sits in front of a computer and types. When it comes to management, I’m at a total loss.”

Nathan reassured her, “You have Ethan. He’s the best manager I’ve ever seen. I learned a lot from him myself. With him here, I’m sure you’ll get the hang of it in no time.”

Lillian nodded. It was too late to back out now. The company was registered, the office space was leased, and even the job ads had been posted. Her inbox was already full of resumes from talented young professionals waiting for her review.

Nathan said, “You need to sign these contracts.”

At his gesture, his assistant handed over a folder of documents.

Nathan opened the contracts one by one and pointed to where Lillian needed to sign. She did so without hesitation, trusting him completely.

However, after signing a few, Lillian suddenly paused.

“Wait, this contract...”

She quickly flipped through the pages, her eyes wide with surprise. “The office building isn’t leased, it’s purchased?”

Nathan’s face broke into a smile. “It’s a gift. I couldn’t just show up with a congratulatory flower arrangement. Without you, there would be no me today. Even though circumstances forced us apart professionally, I wanted to contribute to your new venture.
