As for Tyler, everyone knew it was never about Serena—his intentions had always been for Vivienne. And since Serena was under Christian’s wing, there was no chance he’d cross that line.
Then there was The Erickson Group. Their presence seemed to signal a bid to seize a larger share of the pie.
So, piecing it all together, it became clear: the real value lay in Serena and Voice of the Divine. There was something more beneath the surface, something none of them fully understood.
Once everyone connected the dots, the solution unfolded: don’t force Serena to withdraw, don’t relinquish any shares—just keep moving forward.
Yet, a single question echoed in the minds of every player at the table.
Who on earth was Serena, that the three titans of Alden City were fighting tooth and nail over her?
Everyone wanted her.
Who was she behind that mask?
Christian’s gaze darted from one face to another, his eyes glinting with mischief.
And just like that, the storm passed.
Back at the Donovan Entertainment office, Christian was laughing so hard he slapped the desk.
“You should’ve seen the looks on Big Shot One and Two—like they’d swallowed something foul!”
“I guarantee you, they’d tried to pull every string they could, but before I’d even said a word, everyone flipped sides.”
“In the face of real profit, what could those two even offer?”
“In a word? Satisfying!”
Christian was still roaring with laughter, but Emilia was lost in thought.
Why?
She’d understood most of the Glenn family’s moves up to now, but this time…?
Why go out of their way to protect her when they didn’t even know her real identity?
She couldn’t wrap her head around it.
And Tyler—what was his deal?
Christian tapped the document. “Our people managed to get this—it’s The Erickson Group’s plan.”
“There’s more, too, but the takeaway is, the show isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.”
Emilia’s frown deepened.
So what was the real reason?
“I used to think Tyler was out of his mind, too,” Christian continued as he rummaged through some papers. “It’s like he’s fighting himself at this point. But then I remembered something.”
He handed Emilia another document.
“After the third round, Tyler’s people reached out. They offered Emy compensation.”
“Really, it was hush money—they didn’t want word getting out that ‘Faint Whispers’ wasn’t actually written by Vivienne.”
“I turned them down without a second thought,” Christian said. “Maybe this time, he’s just trying to strike a different deal.”
He shrugged. “Or maybe he really does feel guilty and wants to make it up to you.”
