Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 228

Emilia glanced through the file in her hands.

She really didn’t care about what Tyler intended to do with her—whether it was compensation or just trying to buy her silence, none of it would change her plans.

“I just don’t get the Glenn family,” Christian said, shaking his head. “If you ever get the chance, maybe you should ask them yourself. Maybe George is a fan? You might have to sign a few more autographs for him.”

Emilia didn’t reply.

Maybe she would look into the Glenn family situation later, but right now, only two things mattered.

First, preparing for the finals of *Voice of the Divine*.

Second, finalizing her divorce from Tyler.

The entire day was a blur of errands and obligations.

Serena’s SIM card was back in her phone.

Jayden had set up a call-blocking app for her, so the endless stream of random calls and texts had finally stopped.

Now, most of the messages she received were from people fishing for information—probing about her connections to the Erickson Group and the Glenn Group.

Emilia ignored them all.

Before she knew it, the day had slipped away.

It was time to pick Bella up from school.

From a distance, Emilia spotted Bella in the crowd.

Bella saw her too, her face lighting up as she trotted over.

Emilia crouched down and caught her in a tight hug.

“Miss Emilia!” Bella called out in her sweet, bright voice.

“Hey, Bella!” Emilia said, smoothing down the girl’s coat.

“What do you want for dinner? I’ll take you out for something nice,” Emilia teased, gently pinching Bella’s cheek. “Anything except…”

“Ice cream!” they both blurted out at the same time, bursting into laughter.

Bella’s illness meant no sweets, and over time, they’d fallen into this unspoken routine.

Once Emilia had straightened out Bella’s clothes, she led her to a little gazebo nearby, where they could sit and relax.

Tyler went to see Bella? Last night?

A gentle breeze swept through as a black Mercedes pulled up along the curb nearby.

From the back seat, Tyler watched Emilia and Bella—mother and daughter, side by side.

Through the cracked window, Bella’s anxious little voice carried over.

“Miss Emilia, I told Tyler you don’t like him anymore and that he shouldn’t hurt you again,” she said, her words small but firm. “I also told him not to come see me anymore. I said he’s not my dad.”

“Miss Emilia, are you mad at me?” Bella asked, glancing up at her.

Emilia laughed softly and pinched Bella’s cheek. “Of course not. Don’t worry about it.”

She took both of Bella’s hands in hers. “Let’s not think about this anymore, okay? How about I make you tomato beef stew over rice for dinner? I saw a recipe online where you can shape the rice and beef into a puppy’s face.”

“Yes, please!” Bella grinned, delighted. Her favorite meals were always the ones Miss Emilia made herself.

With their plans made, Emilia and Bella walked back to the car together.

The engine started, and the car whisked the two of them away, leaving the day’s troubles behind.
