Emilia finished speaking and moved to pick up Bella.
“Secretary Jensen and the others aren’t here yet. We’ve all had a drink, so no one’s driving. Let’s take a picture—think of it as a little keepsake,” Tyler suggested.
It would be the last family photo of the three of them while they were still technically married—a proper reunion wouldn’t come for another five months.
With the photo, at least he’d have something to hold onto.
But Tyler kept that thought to himself.
Emilia wanted to refuse, but Bella squeezed her hand.
“The neighbors’ kid,” Bella whispered, barely audible.
It was a gentle reminder—they were about to leave, and this was their last chance for a photo together. Otherwise, the day would end with nothing to show for it.
Emilia finally nodded.
Tyler called over a staff member and handed her the camera he’d arranged earlier.
After a few adjustments to find the right angle, the backdrop settled on the sweeping ocean vista.
This was, after all, the best seaside restaurant in Alden City, and this private room had the most stunning view.
Night had already fallen, but the shoreline was aglow with lights, casting the sea in a soft, enchanting glow.
“Let me hold Bella,” Tyler offered, reaching out as if to pick her up.
But Emilia pulled away.
“I can do it myself,” she said quietly, lowering her gaze. She wasn’t about to let Tyler hold her daughter.
Bella tightened her arms around Emilia’s neck and piped up, “I want Miss Emilia to hold me.”
Tyler could only sigh, resigned. With both mother and daughter so insistent, he had no choice but to let it go.
Click, click, click.
And so, the three of them stood a bit awkwardly, posing for a family portrait.
“All set, Mr. Erickson. Would you like to see if you like it? If not, I can take another,” the server said, handing the camera to Tyler.
Before Tyler could answer, Emilia spoke up. “It’s fine.”
He was right here, and Secretary Jensen and his team were already on their way. Why did she need Felix?
“He’s giving Bella and me a ride home,” Emilia replied, tapping the call button.
Tyler’s frown deepened. He reached over and ended the call.
“What are you doing?” Emilia shot him a glare.
“Secretary Jensen will be here soon,” Tyler said tightly. “There’s no need to involve anyone else.”
After Bella was dropped off, Felix would be the one to drive Emilia home. With their separation period almost over, the thought of Felix taking her home bothered Tyler more than he cared to admit.
“My people will drive you,” Tyler insisted.
Emilia was starting to get truly annoyed.
She hadn’t even wanted the picture, and now this.
“Felix is a good man—it’s not what you’re thinking,” she said bluntly.
