The three of them headed together toward the private elevator.
As they walked, Chloe and Secretary Jensen each gave a quick rundown of the situation.
The elevator ascended steadily.
Just as they were about to reach their floor and the doors began to open, Chloe, almost without thinking, blurted out, “Tyler, did you… really get divorced?”
She hesitated, then pressed, “That divorce certificate she posted—was it real? You actually went through with it?”
Tyler didn’t look at her. He just gave a quiet, “Yeah.”
Without another word, he stepped out of the elevator and hurried toward the boardroom.
Chloe lingered a couple of paces behind, her expression complicated. She opened her mouth as if to say something, but in the end, she fell silent and followed after him, bracing herself to face the people waiting in the conference room.
…
Meanwhile, across town, Emilia and Theodore had just finished lunch and were now inside the Glenn Group’s jewelry showroom.
Theodore was giving her a tour, introducing her to the company’s various business ventures. During lunch, he’d learned about Emilia’s agreement—the one that put her in direct competition with Tyler.
Emilia hadn’t hidden it from him. After all, when she won the Voice of the Divine competition, she’d already signed on for resources from this side. She wasn’t rigid or naive; she knew Tyler would do everything he could to help Vivienne. So, as long as it was within reason, she saw no harm in accepting help from others, especially if both sides stood to benefit.
After showing Emilia around some of the key departments, Theodore guided her through a winding series of corridors, leading her down to a discreet, almost hidden area of the building.
There were several security checkpoints along the way.
At the last one, they paused for a moment and fell into casual conversation.
“Did you hear about Tyler getting cornered at The Erickson Group?” Theodore asked, glancing over at Emilia.
Emilia nodded. Ever since she’d made their divorce public, she’d known these kinds of complications were inevitable. But as she’d said before, she’d already given Tyler enough time.
