"Hey, Serena?"
Lana Xavier lowered her voice, with a hint of blame towards Serena Jennings.
Because the atmosphere between her and Julian Xavier was just right, and Serena’s call was quite untimely, disrupting their private moment.
On the other end, Serena Jennings asked puzzled, "Lana, what’s wrong? Is it inconvenient to talk right now?"
"I..."
"Whose call is that?"
Suddenly, Serena heard a man’s voice.
Even though Serena wasn’t familiar with Julian Xavier’s voice, he was the only man who could be next to Lana at this moment.
"Is Julian Xavier next to you?"
Serena asked straightforwardly.
"Uh, yes..."
"That’s perfect."
"Perfect?"
Serena’s words left Lana confused.
"You can ask Julian if he’s free this weekend. I was thinking we could have a four-person date."
"A four-person date?"
Lana blinked her large eyes.
"Yes, Ethan White and I, and you and Julian Xavier... recently, the Starlight Amusement Park has reopened, and I think it would be more fun with more people."
Standing close to Lana, Julian Xavier heard every word Serena said and smiled subtly.
"I mean, Serena..."
Lana lowered her voice to a whisper.
"Aren’t you and Caleb Lockwood still not divorced? This... are you going to be so high-profile with Ethan White?"
Lana was actually hoping for Serena to choose Ethan White.
Ethan White had been pursuing Serena since high school.
He hadn’t succeeded yet, but he was a school heartthrob, a male idol.
Lana even felt a bit sorry for Ethan White.
Recently, the rumor mill had been labeling the returning Dr. Page as a homewrecker, and Lana didn’t want Ethan White to take the blame even before he could win over Serena.
Moreover, even if Ethan White didn’t take the blame, Serena would have to.
That online scandal from before was still fresh in her mind; even without concrete evidence, netizens used a single photo to fabricate a story, painting Serena as promiscuous, cheating within her marriage.
Just thinking about it gave Lana chills.
"I don’t really mind, just thought I’d remind you..."
In Lana’s view, both Serena and Ethan White were semi-public figures, and even if they were to have a four-person date, it would be best to do it after Serena had completely divorced Caleb Lockwood.
"Don’t worry, Ethan White and I know what we’re doing."
Serena said calmly.
Ever since hearing Lana casually mention that her and Julian Xavier’s dates always ended with them heading straight to the hotel, Serena had been worried that Lana might be getting deceived emotionally.
She initially wanted to confront Julian Xavier, but feared she wouldn’t get any meaningful answers.
This four-person date idea was suggested by Ethan White.
Ethan thought that rather than Serena confronting Julian Xavier alone for an "interrogation," a four-person date would allow them to naturally observe whether Julian Xavier was genuinely serious about Lana.
Serena agreed with Ethan White’s suggestion, leading to today’s phone call.
Lana moved the phone away from her ear and asked Julian Xavier.
"Serena and Ethan White want to invite us for a four-person date at the amusement park, are you free this weekend?"
Julian Xavier’s mysterious eyes twinkled as they turned in their sockets.
"I originally have a meeting on Sunday... but for you, I’m willing to reschedule it."
"Isn’t that bad?"
Lana lowered her head slightly.
Julian Xavier immediately reached out and embraced Lana’s waist, pulling her into his arms.
"Look at the big sacrifice I’m making for you. Shouldn’t you reward me generously?"
Julian Xavier had already unzipped Lana’s jeans.
The other party was polite and took the initiative to greet Caleb Lockwood.
"You are... Lawyer Yao?"
Caleb Lockwood had a smile on his lips, yet there was a cold, repulsive look in his eyes.
"I didn’t expect President Lockwood to know of me, I’m truly flattered."
Lawyer Yao handed over his business card, which Mr. Miller took.
"A top attorney from Country C coming all this way to see me, what for?"
Though Caleb Lockwood asked this, he already had an inkling.
Lawyer Yao respectfully responded, "I’ve come on behalf of my client to meet with President Lockwood..."
As he spoke, Lawyer Yao handed over a document envelope, again received by Mr. Miller.
He opened the envelope, his expression turning more unpleasant, yet still presented the contents to Caleb Lockwood.
Caleb Lockwood lowered his eyes, his deep, enigmatic eyes reflecting the words "Divorce Agreement."
Lawyer Yao silently observed Caleb Lockwood’s reaction by the bedside, noting that Caleb Lockwood indeed had some depth; even upon seeing the divorce agreement, his face remained unchanged without the slightest reaction.
The divorce agreement was quite thick, yet Caleb Lockwood didn’t look at even one page.
"Tell your client, I will not divorce."
Caleb Lockwood’s voice was unruffled, like a cold spring, clear and chilly.
Lawyer Yao pursed his lips and produced another document.
"My client states that if President Lockwood does not agree to a consensual divorce, she will file for divorce against President Lockwood in Country C, which will have extremely adverse effects on President Lockwood personally and The Lockwood Group."
Though Lawyer Yao’s words were concise, the documents handed to Caleb Lockwood were detailed and exhaustive.
They painstakingly listed the amounts Caleb Lockwood had spent on Claire Shaw in the past year, with every bit thoroughly investigated.
In addition, it detailed how Caleb Lockwood had helped Claire Shaw’s parents secure the rehabilitation center project, how he had repeatedly invested in Claire Shaw’s studio, and even misused public funds to provide financial support for Claire Shaw.
"These pieces of evidence are enough to show in court in Country C that the relationship between President Lockwood and my client has irreparably broken down... For the sake of President Lockwood, my client hopes you accept this divorce agreement."
As Lawyer Yao finished his unequivocal statement, Caleb Lockwood turned to the last page of the divorce agreement, where the signature column already bore a name:
Serena Jennings.
Those two words burned Caleb Lockwood’s eyes.
