Every word struck like a poisoned blade, slicing deep into Sienna’s heart.

Her face went pale. She said nothing, only jerked her arm free from Celeste and turned to leave.

Then a sharp slap echoed behind her.

Sienna froze and looked back in disbelief. Celeste was clutching her cheek, her eyes brimming with tears, a bright red handprint already blooming across her face.

Before Sienna could react, Adrian rushed in, alarmed.

“What happened?”

Celeste’s eyes filled instantly with tears. She pointed at Sienna, her voice trembling pitifully.

“Adrian… maybe… maybe she’s still upset because you saved Lila instead of her that night. She must still resent me, so she slapped me just now…”

Adrian turned toward Sienna in shock.

“Sienna? Is that true?”

The disbelief in his eyes pierced deeper than any wound.

Once, whenever anyone wronged her, he would stand by her side without hesitation, proudly declaring, ‘I’m not here to play fair–I’m here for Sienna.‘

But now…

Her voice shook.

“What if I said she did it to herself?”

Adrian’s brow furrowed, his tone edged with anger.

“Sienna! I’ve explained what happened on the balcony. Are you really still holding a grudge against a four–year–old child–and taking it out on her mother? Celeste just gave birth, she’s still recovering! How could you hit her? Apologize!”

Her heart went numb. The man she had loved for five years now felt like a stranger–a cruel, absurd stranger.

She shook her head, defiant.

“I didn’t hit her. I won’t apologize.”

She turned to leave, but Adrian grabbed her wrist hard enough to hurt.

“Sienna! Apologize, or you’re not leaving this room.”

The cold finality in his voice–spoken in defense of another woman–shattered what little love

she still had left.

Sienna suddenly laughed–a hollow, bitter laugh.

She looked at him, then at Celeste, who was standing smugly behind him. Her voice trembled but

was eerily calm.

“Fine. I’ll apologize.”

“I’m sorry, Miss Harrington. I shouldn’t have… ‘hit‘ you. Is that enough?”

Each word scraped her soul raw.

When she finished, her eyes were red. She yanked her wrist free and ran out of the restroom.

She had just stepped into the hallway when she almost collided with someone.

It was a well–dressed middle–aged man. The moment he saw her face, he froze–then his

expression turned from shock to awe. He instinctively lowered his head.

“Miss Sloane-”

Before he could finish, Adrian came out of the restroom behind her, frowning.

“What Miss Sloane? You two know each other?”

The man blinked, startled, and just as he was about to answer, someone called him from down the hall. He threw Sienna a complicated, respectful glance, gave a small nod, and quickly walked away.

Celeste stepped forward immediately, looping her arm through Adrian’s with practiced grace.

“What was that? Did he just call me ‘Miss‘? I think that man’s one of my father’s business

partners.”

Adrian glanced between Celeste and Sienna’s pale face, then seemed to accept her explanation without question.

He took Sienna’s hand, his tone softer but still distant.

“Sienna, since you’ve already apologized, let’s just drop it. I might’ve spoken harshly, but you really went too far…”

Sienna pulled her hand back sharply and didn’t even look at him as she walked away.

“Sienna!” Adrian called, hurrying after her.

They had just stepped out into the open plaza when a loud crack split the air above them.

People looked up in horror–an enormous LED billboard had come loose and was plunging straight down toward them.

In that instant of chaos-

Adrian moved on instinct. He shoved Celeste hard out of the way, shielding her with his own body.

From a few steps away, Sienna saw it all–Adrian’s unhesitating choice, Celeste trembling in his arms, and the fleeting flash of smug satisfaction in Celeste’s eyes.

Then came the crash.

The world went dark as the massive screen fell, and the impact swallowed her whole.
