Sienna's POV
Mrs. Wilson, “Now in charge of spoiling Noah for you.”
Her reply was as Mrs. Wilson looked at her grandson with a soft and loving gaze.
"Grandma, I'll never want to be spoiled," Noah quipped. Tomorrow I will be there for Mommy!"
I smiled warmly. “Oh yeah? Sweetheart, how will you assist Mommy? Please answer.”
“Bake cakes!” Excitedly, he exclaimed, "This is the same spoon I gave to my Grandmother today!" He continued waving his spoon.
Everyone laughed.
"That's a great idea," Mrs. Wilson nodded in agreement. “If you come back next time, we will be cooking together.”
Noah exclaimed, "Yeah, good," while clapping his hands. "Daddy has to come in and assist me." Then proceed further, adding, "Okay, that's okay!"
Liam displayed a serious attitude. "Daddy might have to taste the outcome?"
Noah quickly responded with a "no" and an angry expression. "Daddy has to stir! Otherwise, the bread will burn!"
Our laughter burst out again. Even Mrs. Wilson Through her mouth tried to suppress the laughter that was evident in their bright smiles. Rather than being warm from the food, the dinner table felt like home to something much more precious, that once-close feeling that was slowly returning. It just seemed so real.
Noah was laughing all the time, and Liam smiled at me with a soft smile, while Mrs. Wilson looked peaceful. I wished I hadn't woken up from that dream.
“My pleasure is bringing you all together for this evening.”
With a sudden change in tone, Mrs. Wilson spoke with stoicism, acknowledging, "This house has been quiet for too long. Whenever I dined alone at this table, I always felt the urge to laugh.”
My mouth swolened with gratitude as she expressed her affection for us. "Thank you, Mom. We were welcomed with open arms.”
She gently shook her head. "Sienna, I don't think you need to thank me."
Having finally returned, I should be the one to thank you.
My hand was placed under the table with great care, and Liam's hand found me almost hesitant, as if I were afraid to pull away. But this time, I didn't. All I could do was look at him and a faint smile.
While observing us from across the table, Noah unfazed and exclaimed "Daddy, Mommy! You look like you're in a movie.”
We all laughed again. Then I looked at Mrs. Wilson, looking down at the table, still smiling, her eyes shining with relief.
I said softly, "Mom, thank you for giving us a chance to fix things."
She shook her head and smiled. "No, Sienna. Keeping strong is something I should acknowledge with you. For holding onto my son.”
Liam glanced back at me with a warm, wide-eyed stare. "I promise, Sienna, I won't waste this second opportunity."
