**Dreams Folding Into Broken Time**
**Chapter 168**
For a fleeting moment, the world around me faded, and all that remained was the haunting echo of what had just transpired. The rawness of it all washed over me, a paradox of relief and pain, like flames licking at the edges of my skin.
But then, as if a switch had been flipped, disgust surged through me.
My stomach twisted violently, a knot of dread forming deep within. My throat constricted, and the air I desperately inhaled tasted acrid, like burnt ash mixed with the bitter tang of guilt.
With a surge of panic, I pushed him away, scrambling to my feet. My fingers trembled as I tugged at my skirt, trying to restore some semblance of modesty. The reflection staring back at me from the thick glass was a stranger—hair a tangled mess, lipstick smeared like a crime scene, and skin marked with bruises from his grip.
“What have I done…” I murmured, my voice barely above a whisper, so fragile I could hardly recognize it as my own.
Roman leaned back against his desk, his chest heaving as sweat glistened on his temples. He regarded me as if I had just gifted him with the very air he breathed, as though this moment was the most natural occurrence in the universe.
But how could this be natural? How could anything about this be right?
“I can’t…” The words escaped my lips, laced with desperation as my hand instinctively flew to my mouth, bile threatening to rise. “I feel sick.”
“Savannah—” He took a step towards me, but instinctively, I recoiled.
“No. Please. Don’t touch me.”
His jaw clenched, and I could see something dark simmering in his eyes, a possessive glint that sent shivers down my spine. But I couldn’t let him near me—not now, not when the bitter aftertaste of our actions was poisoning my very soul.
“You wanted this, Sav,” he reminded me, his tone a strange mix of challenge and seduction.
“I wanted it,” I admitted hoarsely, the confession tearing at my insides. “God help me, I wanted it. But now? Now I’m terrified.”
