From Best Friend To Fiancé (Savannah and Roman) novel Chapter 195

**TITLE: Dreams Folding Into Broken Time**

**Chapter 195**

Savannah finally pulls her lips away from mine, her breath coming in quick, shallow gasps, the flush of her lips a vivid crimson, glistening under the fading light. Dean clears his throat, his voice betraying him with a slight crack. “Umm… Sav, we really need to get going now. Might rain soon.”

I lean in for one last kiss, slow and lingering, savoring the warmth of her mouth against mine before I finally pull back. “Be safe, my love. Call me whenever you feel like.” I tuck a stray lock of hair behind her ear, relishing the dazed, dreamy look in her eyes that speaks volumes of her desire.

She nods, her eyes still heavy with longing. “I will.” Her arms wrap around my waist in a tight embrace, her head resting against my chest, and I can feel the soft rhythm of her heartbeat. “Don’t forget to eat something later.”

I can’t help but chuckle softly, squeezing her gently one more time. “Run along now, Sav. Before I change my mind and decide to keep you here with me.”

A grin spreads across her face, but then it shifts into a mock-serious expression. Leaning closer, she whispers conspiratorially, “You better not be meeting with Penny. I’ll find out if you do. And I’ll haunt you in your dreams. And in broad daylight. And even at work. Everywhere.”

Her playful threat sends a burst of laughter from my lips. “Goodbye, Savannah.”

With narrowed eyes, she blows me a kiss before finally turning to leave.

This woman will be the end of me.

I stand there, arms folded, watching her stride toward the car with an air of confidence. She ignores Dean’s every attempt at courtesy—opening the door herself, sliding in without a glance in his direction, and buckling her seatbelt with swift, decisive movements.

Good girl.

The moment her head dips down, her focus on the seatbelt, I act.

I’m at Dean’s side before he even registers my presence, my body crowding him against the car door. My shadow envelops him completely. “You better keep your fucking hands off my woman. Do you understand me?”

He blinks, the nervous swallow of his Adam’s apple betraying his fear. “Look, I’m not trying to—”

“I don’t give a fuck what you’re not trying to do,” I interrupt, my voice sharp and unwavering. “What I care about is what you’re planning. If you even breathe wrong around her, if your voice so much as grazes her ears in a way I don’t like, I will end you. Do you hear me? I will fucking destroy you. And don’t think for a second that I won’t be watching.”

I step closer, my chest nearly brushing against his, my hand gripping the fabric of his collar tightly. His breath quickens, coming out in short, panicked gasps, while his knuckles turn white against his side.

“Roman?”

Her voice slices through the tension like a knife.

I blink and force myself to release him, stepping back smoothly. Slowly, I turn toward Savannah, who is now standing just a few feet away, her brows knitted together in confusion.

“What is this?” she asks, her tone uncertain. “What are you doing?”

I force a smile, smoothing out Dean’s collar as if I had been fixing it all along. “Nothing. We were just talking, weren’t we, Dean?”

Dean’s eyes burn into me, but his voice comes out strangled. “Yeah. Let’s go, Sav.”

I take a step back, raising my hand and waving at her as if nothing has happened. “Bye, sweetheart.”

She looks uncertain, confusion clouding her features, but she still waves back at me before climbing into the car again. Dean shoots me one last glare before slipping inside and starting the engine.

I watch them drive off, her face flickering past the window before it vanishes from sight.

The longer I stand there, the darker my thoughts become.

I think of Dean. He believes he can stand between me and what’s mine. He thinks he can breathe the same air as her, sit beside her, and gaze at her as if he hasn’t already squandered his chance. He thinks this is a temporary arrangement.

It’s not. It’s permanent.

She is mine. Every breath she takes, every smile she offers, every inch of her skin that still carries the scent of me—mine. All mine.

And if anyone dares to forget that, I will remind them. Time and time again, until there’s no doubt left. No man touches what’s mine.
