From Best Friend To Fiancé (Savannah and Roman) novel Chapter 47

**Chapter 47**

His smile flickered for a brief moment, and then his tone softened, “You won’t lose me, love.”

We remained locked in that embrace, the warmth of his body enveloping me. His chin rested gently atop my head, and his hand traced soothing patterns along my back, a rhythmic motion that both calmed and excited me.

It was he who broke the silence first.

“If it brings you some comfort, I’ve wanted you since the moment you stepped out in that bikini. And at the club? I wanted nothing more than to take you right there, right then,” he confessed, his voice laced with a mix of nostalgia and desire.

I playfully nudged his stomach, a mischievous grin spreading across my face. “I knew you were horny. And you tried to deny it.”

A light chuckle escaped his lips. “So, do you want me too? Or is it just a one-sided affair?”

“Wanting you isn’t the issue, Roman,” I replied, my gaze still fixed away from him. “It’s trusting that what we’re stepping into won’t tear us apart.”

His response came with a noticeable shift in his posture; the weight of my words seemed to settle heavily between us. He broke eye contact, his gaze drifting downwards.

He took a moment to gather his thoughts before replying, his voice low and earnest. “Then let’s take it slow. Don’t shut me out. Don’t run away as if I’m the villain in your story.”

I paused, letting his words wash over me, the gravity of the moment sinking in. Finally, I turned to face him, allowing my arms to fall loosely by my sides. “Alright. No more avoiding. No shutting you out.”

A flicker of relief crossed his face, softening his expression just a bit. “Thank you. Now, let’s get some rest.”

“I need a shower first. I have to wash off…” I trailed off, my cheeks warming as I looked away, feeling vulnerable.

“Of course. I’ll wait for you in bed,” he replied, his tone smooth and reassuring.

After I finished my shower, I heard the water shut off, and soon Roman emerged, clad only in a white towel that clung to his waist. My heart raced as I handed him his phone, which was ringing on the table. It was his lawyer, Penny.

As they discussed the complicated situation involving Ryan, Alyssa, and Emily, Roman rummaged through his belongings, searching for his boxers while balancing the phone precariously between his ear and shoulder.

Without any warning, he let the towel drop, completely unaware of the effect it had on me. I found myself staring, unable to look away, my breath catching in my throat as I took in the full view of his bare backside.

This time, I didn’t shy away. I didn’t hide behind a screen or pretend to be uninterested.

I watched boldly.

It wasn’t the first time I had seen him naked. I recalled a day when he had been dreadfully ill, refusing to get up for work, and I had rushed over with soup and medicine. He had been cocooned in blankets, and I had discovered, quite unexpectedly, that he never wore clothes to bed.

But that earlier encounter didn’t stir the same feelings that seeing him now did. Everything felt different.

A rush of heat coursed through me, my body responding in ways I couldn’t control. My nipples hardened, brushing against the fabric of my tank top, and a deep throb settled in my core as I clenched my thighs together, my heart racing as I watched him.

He seemed unhurried, taking his time with the call, his hands resting on his hips in a casual yet alluring manner.

Once the call ended, he turned to me, handing the phone back with a playful smirk.

“Enjoying the view, bestie?” he teased, now dressed in his boxers.

My cheeks flushed with embarrassment at being caught staring.
