From Neglected Wife to CEO’s Obsession novel Chapter 123

My eyes lit up. Wasn’t this exactly what I’d been wishing for? It was like the universe had handed me the answer just when I needed it most.

The boss really was my guardian angel. I made a mental note to jot down another line in my gratitude journal—“Forever thankful for the lawyer hookup.”

I couldn’t hide my excitement. “So you’re really serious, Mr. Garcia? Would you actually take on a divorce case like mine?”

He was known for handling billion-dollar corporate disputes. Honestly, I doubted he’d even look twice at my messy, complicated little divorce.

Blake shot a look at Elliot. Elliot sat there, calm and collected, his features sharp and refined, like he was born to be in charge. He raised an eyebrow, a teasing smile on his lips. “Ms. Greenwood, you’re not joking, are you? You just said I’ve never lost a case. What if you win and then change your mind?”

“I’m not joking. I’m completely serious.” I could hear the desperation in my own voice. “All the lawyers in Georgia Bay are scared off by my husband Remy. No one will take my case. Right now, you’re my only hope.”

Elliot’s voice went cold. “And if she regrets it? So what? Worst case, we just pay her back—with a new husband.”

I blinked at him, stunned. Pay me back with a husband? I’d heard of people getting money, houses, or cars, but never a husband.

Blake covered a laugh with his fist, his eyes sparkling with mischief. “Sounds pretty exciting. I’ll take your divorce case, Ms. Greenwood. Let’s set a meeting soon and talk through the details.”

Hearing him say yes made my heart finally settle. No matter what happened with the divorce agreement today, with Mr. Garcia on my side, I actually felt like I might stand a chance.

The meeting ran all the way until noon because there was just so much to cover. We grabbed a quick lunch near the office before diving back in.

By almost three, we’d finally finished mapping out all the department changes according to Elliot’s plan.

Next was putting everything into action. The tech department would be the first to form a new project team—leading the way and sending a clear message to the rest of the company.

Blake glanced at his watch and smiled. “Ms. Greenwood, we’ve got a bit of time left. Let’s talk about your case.”
