Lisa was throwing everything she had at a mutant centipede that came charging her way.
She switched her attacks twice before finally pinning the creature to the ground with her blade. She didn’t even have time to stop Dyson from yelling his lungs out.
After that, it didn’t matter anyway.
Someone else had already gone down.
Lisa rushed over to help, but it was too late. She was fast and sharp, the kind who rarely slipped up.
Thanks to her, only three people had died so far.
But she didn’t expect the giant centipede wrapped around the truck to suddenly lose it.
It tightened its grip on the truck, half its body sticking out, spitting venom everywhere.
Maybe it was pissed because Lisa had just killed another one of its kind. The big one raised its body high, flaring its limbs like it was roaring in rage.
Right then, one of the guys made a bad move trying to dodge.
The mutant centipede lunged and sank its fangs into his waist–half his side gone in one bite!
Blood splashed across the snow, staining it bright red, and even sprayed onto Lisa’s face.
Then, it turned on her, charging like it wanted her dead.
She was fast–gun in one hand, blade in the other–but barely keeping ahead of it.
And it got worse. The other centipedes seemed to pick up on something and went berserk as well.
Their attacks doubled in strength.
Most of Dyson’s crew weren’t fighters.
Most of the crew were just regular people they’d recruited recently.
They’d only planned to dig up some coal, maybe deal with a mutant or two if needed. Lisa and Dyson figured they could handle it.

They had guns, after all.
But no one expected to walk right into a mutant centipede nest.

According to the info they’d gotten, the army had checked this place out before and marked it safe. Guess their luck ran out.
“Caroline, help us! We need backup!” Dyson yelled, almost getting his butt bitten off by a centipede.
Caroline and Tyler traded a quick look.
He muttered, “Make sure we charge them extra. They said they’re rich–way more loaded than the army.”
“For sure. No way they’re getting a discount.”
The two of them grinned, that same sly spark in their eyes.
The two of them teaming up? Their appearance fee sure didn’t come cheap!
With that, they jumped straight into the chaos.
With Caroline, Tyler, and Raven joining in, the fight flipped fast.
They spotted that the biggest centipede was running the show, so they went right for it and took it down first.
Raven backed them up, handling the smaller ones like a pro.
About half an hour later, the fight was over. Dyson was still breathing, and no one else had died.
Lisa, completely exhausted, stuck her blade into the snow and leaned on it, panting.
“Caroline, Tyler, thanks so much!” Dyson called, giving them both a big thumbs–up.
She stayed silent and simply pointed at Raven, implying he’d helped as well.
“Right, right—and Mr. Dog too! He jumped on that centipede’s head–looked awesome! He saved my life!” Dyson laughed.
Caroline saw his goofy grin and replied calmly, “Then my dog gets a share too.”
Dyson froze, totally caught off guard. With a few words, he owed another reward.
