Raven suddenly grew in size and lunged forward, smashing through the massive rock blocking the cave.
Caroline and Tyler dashed toward the exit as well.
The second they made it out, the whole mine gave way behind them with a deafening crash.
Caroline exhaled in relief. She honestly felt like she’d just escaped death.
She was about to wipe her forehead, but she froze when she noticed she was still holding Tyler’s hand.
In all that chaos, she couldn’t even tell who had grabbed who first. They’d just been running like crazy and never let go.
Caroline didn’t feel awkward about it. Not embarrassed either. She simply smiled faintly at Tyler and pulled her hand away first.
But her palm still burned a little, that strange warmth lingering longer than she expected.
She wasn’t the kind to overthink it, though. Now wasn’t the time anyway. Turning to him, she said, “Let’s get moving.”
The ground was still rumbling nearby, mixed with the sounds of shouting and swearing. Dyson’s group was clearly in trouble.
Tyler nodded lightly and started pushing the snow aside to make a path.
Caroline didn’t notice the grin that slowly spread across his face as he walked ahead, or the sparkle in his eyes that wouldn’t fade.
The tunnel Raven had dug before was completely gone.
They had to work hard to dig again with Raven’s help before finally crawling out through the
snow.
The moment they got outside, a wave of heat slammed into them–totally wrong for such a freezing place.
Then came a loud boom. Another explosion.
When they looked toward Dyson’s group, another grenade had just gone off.

Chapter 314 Help Us Out
The scene was absolute chaos.

A gigantic centipede, over 15 feet long, was coiled on top of a truck, snapping its jaws and spraying venom everywhere.
Two more, each over ten feet long, were fighting Dyson’s team on the ground.
“Damn it! When are these things gonna quit?” Dyson’s angry voice echoed through the air.
Three centipedes were already dead, and two more were thrashing around, wounded.
Coal was scattered across the ground, some of it catching fire and bursting into flames that lit up the sky.
That explained the sudden heat Caroline and Tyler felt.
They both stared at the chaos in silence, all their earlier frustration from the cave collapse fading away.
Finally, Caroline spoke the thought they shared, “Dyson’s team looks pretty wrecked right
now.”
Then there was Lisa.
She’d awakened her powers during the great heat and could control mutant centipedes. But right now, she looked beaten down and clearly hadn’t gained much from the mess.
When she spotted Caroline and Tyler crawling out of the snow, she just clenched her jaw and stayed quiet, not asking for help at all.
From Caroline’s point of view, they were barely holding the line, but that was what it meant to gamble and lose.
Lisa was a real gambler. She played fair, even when it hurt.
Caroline had no plan to join Dyson’s fight, and she could tell Lisa didn’t want her help either. So, she turned to Tyler and said, “Let’s go.”
But Dyson didn’t care about pride.
Right as Caroline and Tyler were about to get in the car, Dyson started yelling, “Caroline! Oh my god, please help us!”
He called her so intimately, like they were family.
