Denton was still obsessed with his rat costume, posing nonstop like he was in some kind of show.

“Caroline! Come eat with us later! I’m training my mutant rats to help cook dinner,” he said with a big grin.

Caroline just stared at him, completely speechless.

Tyler gave him a sharp look. “No rats in the kitchen.”

Denton pouted. “What if I clean them up first?”

Right after that, he pulled out a giant pink rat from his pocket!

It was way bigger than his hand, with reddish–purple eyes and a round, chubby face instead of the usual sharp one. Its ears were huge, its eyes wide, and it looked kind of silly–almost like a knockoff Mickey Mouse.

But what stood out the most was its coat of soft pink fur. That little thing looked so pitiful and adorable at the same time, like something straight out of a cute dream.

That color was just perfect.

Even its long tail was such a soft pink that Caroline wanted to give it a pinch. It was so cute!

“Hehe, I call her Pinky. The others picked on her for being weird–looking, so I took her in.”

Tyler gave a quiet nod, not commenting.

Caroline looked at Denton’s excited face and couldn’t help laughing. “Pinky is adorable.”

As she studied the pink rat, she figured that Pinky might be a special kind of mutant. Maybe Pinky already had some special abilities, just waiting to kick in as she got older.

After that, everyone split up and went home.

The moment Caroline stepped inside, something dark came flying straight at her.

Caroline hadn’t taken Jet out that day because he’d been acting strange lately, feverish and kind of dazed.

She figured he might be about to evolve, so she’d left him at home for his safety.

But after he begged her, she sent him over to Denton’s place instead, saying he needed some

care.

Of course, Denton, being obsessed with birds, happily agreed. After checking Jet and finding nothing wrong, he let Silver keep Jet company while he went off to mess with his rats.

Jet and Silver had spent the whole afternoon together.

“Okay, okay, calm down. I’ll mix you some healing spring water with acid rain. Stay put.”

Caroline brushed his feathers softly. He felt even hotter than before.

Sure enough, after she placed him in a bucket of water, he finally relaxed and fell asleep along the rim.

Raven, clearly worried, jumped in as well. Even though he still looked grumpy and a bit irritated with Jet, he still held up one claw, letting Jet lean on it so he wouldn’t sink or choke.

Caroline rubbed Raven’s head. Among all her pets, he was definitely turning into the responsible one.

Then, she unclipped the pendant from his neck, while Raven cut the link to it.

She connected to the storage space and stepped inside.

Four mutant centipede corpses lay there, one especially huge. Her eyes brightened immediately. Raven had done great.

Sensing her joy, Raven looked up at her and smiled.
