Girl's Doomsday Rebirth Revenge & Survive novel Chapter 330

330 The Market

Caroline and Tyler both wholeheartedly agreed with Denton’s plan without hesitation.

As soon as they stepped inside, an unbearable stench assaulted their senses. The smell was absolutely dreadful.

Even before the world fell apart, the odor emanating from this leather factory had been notorious.

The process of turning raw hides into leather involved a cocktail of chemicals, each releasing their own harsh, unpleasant smells.

Then came the boiling of the animal skins, a uniquely revolting scent all on its own.

The air was thick with a pungent, sour aroma that clung to every surface.

To make matters worse, Luke’s months-long neglect and contamination had turned the place into something far worse than a decaying cesspool.

Unable to bear it any longer, they quickly stepped back outside into the fresher air.

Slowly but surely, the mutant rats began dragging out everything they could find.

There were heaps of furs and leather goods scattered about, but the most useful discoveries were the various leather shoes—winter boots, sandals, you name it.

After Caroline and Tyler carefully stowed the loot in their storage unit, Caroline wrapped a triple-layer mask tightly over her nose and mouth.

She even pulled on a pair of goggles to shield her eyes from the overwhelming stench. “Wait a moment,” she told Tyler and Denton firmly. “I’m going back in to grab those machines.”

She couldn’t just leave the equipment behind—not when even the mutant army would value such gear. It would be a waste to abandon it here.

Just as she was about to step back inside, Raven suddenly trotted in front of her, blocking her path.

His tail wagged gently as he looked up at her with earnest, imploring eyes. “Human, it’s too foul in there. Let me handle it.”

It took Caroline a moment to fully grasp what he was offering.

A warm wave of pride swelled inside her chest. Look at my boy, all grown up.

After all the time they’d spent together, she no longer thought of Raven merely as a pet or her “good son.” He had grown into someone responsible, calm, and dependable—almost like an older brother figure.

Yet, somehow, he still felt like a cherished little brother too.

Moved by his thoughtful gesture, Caroline disconnected from the storage unit and slipped the pendant around Raven’s neck.

Raven, now a seasoned pro, gently bit a small patch of skin on his paw until it bled, then carefully dabbed the blood onto the pendant.

Denton watched the ritual, his jaw hanging open in amazement. “Whoa, Raven’s a genius! I’d kill for one of his pups!”

No sooner had Raven dashed back inside the tannery than Snow hurried in after him.

Tyler instinctively moved to call Snow back but paused, deciding it was good for the younger dog to gain some experience, so he held his tongue.
