Chapter 332: Did the Army Strike a Fortune?

Despite many items appearing useless at first glance, a surprising number of supplies were left behind.

Caroline and the others eagerly gathered every bit of the degrading solution they could find. As they rummaged through the storage room, they stumbled upon several packs of wet wipes, tissues, and even two full cases of fans.

Although the fans wouldn’t serve much purpose in the current cold weather, Caroline thought they might prove valuable later on. “If it ever gets hot, we can always trade these,” she mused quietly to herself.

The true treasure, however, was the stash of sunscreen they discovered tucked away in another storage area. There were a dozen boxes, each from different brands, untouched and ready to be used. Without hesitation, Caroline’s group loaded them all into their storage space.

They also grabbed any miscellaneous supplies that seemed at least somewhat useful, not leaving behind even the toolbox sets hidden in a corner. By the time they finished packing, dusk had settled outside, casting long shadows across the room.

They had only managed a quick, light lunch earlier, so the group planned to enjoy a proper meal that evening. Caroline pulled out some pasta with pesto sauce from their storage, along with a warm bowl of chicken soup she had prepared. She had carefully added two drops of healing spring water to the soup, hoping it would provide a bit of a health boost.

Over time, Caroline had come to view Denton and Tyler as true comrades. She appreciated the genuine care they showed her, and though she couldn’t reveal the secret of the healing spring, she wanted to help them in any way she could.

Tyler had also brought food—pulled pork tacos and a hearty beef and tomato stew. Both the chicken soup and the stew were perfect for the cold weather they were enduring.

Denton took a bite of Caroline’s pasta, then sipped the chicken soup, immediately giving her a thumbs-up. “Caroline, your cooking is incredible. I’ve never tasted chicken soup this good! On a freezing night like this, nothing beats it.”

“Just eat already,” Tyler teased, lightly tapping Denton on the head with his fork. Denton shut up immediately and began devouring the food with gusto.

They say a growing boy can eat a mountain, and Denton’s appetite truly amazed Caroline. He seemed capable of consuming twenty pounds of food in a single sitting.

For the next two days, their focus was solely on gathering supplies. They meticulously cleared out every warehouse Tyler had marked, along with several locations Caroline had noted from addresses she’d found in a safe.

After visiting these places, they discovered that only one warehouse had already been looted by someone else; the rest remained untouched, brimming with potential.

Most of Tyler’s selections were remote stores, malls, and small factories. Although food was scarce in these locations, they weren’t searching for food—they were after any useful gear or supplies.
