Chapter 357: Stripburst

A sudden, fierce gust ripped through the room, tearing Francis’s clothes into countless tiny strips that fluttered away like confetti caught in a chaotic breeze. The remnants of his once-intact outfit scattered through the air, leaving him standing there utterly exposed.

Francis groaned softly, his head spinning as he struggled to push himself upright. The dizziness clung stubbornly, but he managed to steady himself enough to glance downward—and froze. Not a single scrap of fabric remained on his body.

His eyes then darted to the soldiers surrounding him, their expressions a mix of surprise and barely concealed amusement. Denton stood nearby, wearing that infuriating smirk that made it clear he was thoroughly enjoying the spectacle.

Francis’s face darkened with frustration and embarrassment. “What the hell just happened? Who took my clothes off?!” he demanded, voice sharp and incredulous.

Without hesitation, he swung his arm angrily, and a razor-sharp blade of wind shot out, aimed directly at Denton.

A split second later, Denton’s pants ripped apart with a loud tearing sound, exposing him in an equally awkward fashion.

“Damn it, Francis! I swear, I’m going to kill you!” Denton shouted, desperately clutching what little dignity he had left.

Behind them, Caroline, partly hidden behind a soldier, caught sight of Denton’s pants falling to his ankles. The underwear he was left wearing was emblazoned with a cheerful SpongeBob waving enthusiastically—a sight too ridiculous to ignore.

Caroline couldn’t help but chuckle lightly. “Well, at least the kid’s growing up just fine,” she murmured with an amused smile.

Tyler, standing quietly in the background, had witnessed the entire scene unfold. He was at a loss for words, unsure how to react. For once, he was convinced that Denton hadn’t done anything wrong. Yet, inexplicably, his hand itched, as if urging him to grab a wooden pole and intervene.

Caroline sighed softly, mentally coining a name for Francis’s newly revealed power: Stripburst.

Francis had just awakened this ability, and the results were unmistakable—his entire outfit shredded into fragments. Even the sleeping Alger nearby lost half of his clothes to the sudden blast. And poor Denton, who had only taken a couple of steps forward, became unintended collateral damage, his pants torn away in the chaos.

As Francis finally managed to stand fully upright, several young soldiers in the room, including Alger, began to stir awake. They had all drunk the spring water Caroline had prepared earlier, aiding their rapid recovery.

With more soldiers regaining consciousness, the room’s chaos gradually began to subside.

The few rogue ability users who had gone off the rails were swiftly neutralized—some even killed—while the rest were quickly subdued. Most others had simply been bystanders, following the crowd without taking a firm stand.

Caroline stood near the window, her expression still tense and uneasy.

A persistent knot tightened in her stomach, a warning that the mutants would arrive soon. Yet, she wrestled with how to alert everyone without spreading panic.

Just then, someone entered from Building B.

It was Lisa.
