Doomsday Rebirth 356
hapter 356 Francis Is Out of Control
Some people even kicked and punched the soldiers who had passed out.
Others stole their guns.
“And a group broke into our supply depot,” one young soldier said, frowning. “When they came out, everything was gone.”
Caroline immediately understood–someone had awakened a spatial ability and used it to move the army’s supplies elsewhere.
From a few sentences, she could tell how bad things had gotten for the army. Disastrous wasn’t enough to describe it.
Caroline had come down here to help for a reason; the army was running out of time.
From what she remembered, once humans began awakening their abilities, an insect disaster would soon follow.
Those creatures were drawn by the energy waves coming from people who had just awakened.
When a person was in that half–sleeping state, their body released a strange energy pulse, a scent that lured mutant creatures.
And mutant beings could eat human mutants to grow stronger.
That was what made the coming the great heat and the insect disaster so terrifying.
According to Caroline’s memory, the countdown had already begun.
A crowded shelter like this would become the perfect target for mutant attacks.
The young soldier led Caroline and the others to the army’s command office on the 40th floor.
Along the way, they stopped the rioters and moved the unconscious soldiers to safer spots.
There were still a few good people left.
Some who had awakened abilities didn’t join the chaos. Instead, they stayed to help the army keep order.
Caroline handed several of the fainted soldiers to those helpers before moving on.
When they reached Francis’s office, the door was open.
Inside, Francis, Alger, and a few unfamiliar soldiers sat slumped in a corner, all unconscious.
Caroline walked over and felt their foreheads. They were burning.
Francis was drenched in sweat, as if he’d just been pulled from a pool.
“Get me a glass of water,” she said to the soldier that led the way.
When the water arrived, Caroline quietly added a few drops of spring water to it. Then she fed a little to each of them.
“Keep giving them water,” she told the nearby soldiers. “We don’t want them dehydrating.”
The soldiers nodded quickly and got to work.

Caroline checked on Francis. After drinking some water mixed with spring water, his fever finally started to drop. It seemed like the worst had passed.
Among the team, Tyler had also gone through something dangerous earlier.
His ability had nearly spiraled out of control, but fortunately he managed to suppress it in time.
Now that Francis was in this state, Caroline was sure that his ability was about to spiral out of control.
But she didn’t expect it to come so soon.
Suddenly, a violent gust of wind erupted around Francis.
The force was so strong that Alger, who was lying nearby, was thrown to the ground.
Within seconds, a whirlwind formed around Francis, spiraling upward and smashing against the ceiling.
“What’s happening?”
“Colonel! Hang in there!”
The office turned chaotic. Papers and furniture flew through the air.
‘Everyone, get back! Move!” Caroline shouted.
She could feel the sheer cutting force in that wind; it was sharp enough to slice through skin.
Caroline quickly wrapped Alger in a water bubble to shield him, but she was a step too late.
His clothes had torn into shreds.
Everyone scrambled out of the room.
Caroline tried her best to trap Francis inside a massive waterball, trying to suppress his raging ability.
