Girl's Doomsday Rebirth Revenge & Survive novel Chapter 360

360 The First Wave

At this moment, Caroline was still uncertain about how to handle the situation.

This initial surge of insect devastation was merely the opening act—an easy level, if you will.

As the temperature climbed, these creatures would multiply at an alarming rate, dozens of times faster than now. Their mutant abilities would also intensify dramatically.

With more human mutants serving as prey for these mutant insects, the next wave promised to be far more terrifying.

Right now? This was just a mere taste of the nightmare that lay ahead.

To be cautious, Caroline drew a vial of Nelson’s blood before departing, just in case she might need it later.

Nelson was confident he could manage himself and Handsy. Following Caroline’s advice, he spread poison near the door to prevent any insects from crawling into the lab and disrupting his experiments.

Caroline stationed Jet and Snow on the 66th floor to guard the area.

Raven remained on the 65th floor to protect Nelson and to stop any mutant insects from advancing further upward.

Once all preparations were complete, she hurried back to her post.

Upon her return, Caroline found Tyler and Denton standing silently by the window. Their faces were taut, eyes locked on the scene outside. Not a single word passed between them.

Caroline moved to her designated window and peered down.

What she saw churned her stomach. The water below was restless, teeming with thousands of red, snake-like worms.

They had already swum close to the building—no more than a hundred feet away.

They swayed rhythmically in the murky water, forming an endless wave stretching for blocks.

These were steelworms.

Mutated steelworms.

Now gathered in a dense mass, they packed the entire flood below in a crimson stain.

Some raised their heads, their eyeless faces tilting upward as if seeking their destination.

Caroline caught a glimpse of their mouths—rings of jagged, razor-sharp teeth.

Their slick, red bodies glistened under the sunlight, reflecting a metallic sheen.

It was evident these creatures had evolved. Their flesh was now as tough as steel.

Then, as though bound by a silent accord, the swarm divided into two groups.

Half surged toward Building B, while the other half headed straight for Building A.

“Attention, all squads! Engage!” Francis’s voice crackled over the walkie-talkie.

Caroline and Tyler exchanged a brief, determined glance before launching their attacks simultaneously.
