Girl's Doomsday Rebirth Revenge & Survive novel Chapter 361

361 The Swarm Breaks Through

It was a common sight to see groups of four or five people clustered around a steelworm, each armed with sticks or whatever makeshift weapons they could find. The instant one of those grotesque creatures poked its head out, the crowd would swarm it, beating it mercilessly until nothing remained but a bloody smear—or a mangled heap of flesh.

Yet, despite their vigilance, some steelworms proved cunning and lucky enough to slip past the defenses. They evaded the soldiers stationed on the lower floors, slipped quietly by Caroline’s team, and somehow managed to crawl beyond the 64th floor.

That was where Raven stood guard. With his keen senses, he could detect any steelworm that had bypassed the others. One swift bite from him was enough to sever a steelworm cleanly in two.

If any dared to climb even higher, reaching the 66th floor, their fate was sealed.

Birds nested up there—and birds loved feasting on bugs.

Jet was stationed by the window, ever watchful. Each time a steelworm drew near, snap! One peck was all it took. The kill was quick, the crunch of the bug’s body satisfying in its finality.

Snow had undergone a transformation as well. After the deep freeze, she mutated. Now she was the size of a small horse, her violet eyes glowing with an almost otherworldly light. Her wolf-like form was sleek and powerful, radiating a fierce, cold energy. Snow’s personality had hardened, becoming as sharp and unyielding as her new form.

Every steelworm that tried to invade her territory met the same brutal end—bitten into eight pieces, utterly destroyed.

But occasionally, one of these creatures was different.

This particular steelworm had crawled all the way to the 65th floor, where Raven had already bitten it in half. He stomped down hard, crushing its tail, and was about to finish off the head when suddenly, another steelworm burst into the room.

With a powerful leap, Raven sprang into the air to confront the newcomer.

Normally, no steelworm could survive being torn apart like that.

But this one was special.

It had mutated again, much like an earthworm. Even after being split, it continued to live.

The wound sealed rapidly, and a new tail began to grow. The creature rolled across the floor, twisting twice before crawling forward, following the scent of blood.

It could detect the smell of living flesh—and that intoxicating, irresistible scent of ability users.

Slithering along the wall, it reached a door. The poison spread at the threshold had no effect on it whatsoever.

Inside, the worm spotted its next target: a frail, thin man dressed in a white lab coat.

With its mouth open wide, hungry for power and flesh, the worm lunged.

Then—clink!

A glass jar slammed down over its head.

Fast. Precise. Not a single wasted motion.

The thin man’s lips curled into a twisted grin. “Haha! This one looks a little different from the last,” he chuckled darkly.

Beside him, another steelworm lay dissected on the lab table, cut open and sliced into pieces.
