“The army has just completed the construction of an incredible new all-terrain truck,” Francis declared, his voice brimming with pride. “This beast can tackle any harsh weather and navigate through the roughest terrains imaginable. I’ve already instructed my team to deliver one straight to you. Trust me when I say, this truck is a sight to behold! They’ve only manufactured three so far, but I made sure you’d be one of the lucky recipients! After all, you’ve saved Commander Ball and safeguarded our shelter time and again. Your efforts will not be forgotten.”

He paused, a glint of mischief in his eyes. “As for the folks on Commander Zimmer’s side, we’ll need a bit more time to provide you with a solid answer. But once we’ve dealt with Commander Zimmer, oh, just wait and see,” he chuckled darkly.

The unspoken threat lingered in the air, heavy and palpable. Nathaniel’s faction was not going to let Andrew escape unscathed this time.

Caroline let out a weary sigh, her mind racing with the implications of the chaos surrounding them. The military was stretched thin, and Nathaniel was still playing the role of the deceased. Meanwhile, Francis was darting around like a headless chicken, trying to keep everything from spiraling further into madness. The atmosphere was thick with uncertainty and tension.

She had come to see Francis for two main reasons. First, she wanted to ensure that he wouldn’t forget her once she left the shelter. If you find yourself with excess, strip them for energy, and we’ll retrieve the remainder. Some of those bugs can even be consumed as food.”

Caroline nodded in agreement. “That sounds good. I was also wondering if you could send more hunters to track down mutants. If you come across any rare varieties, like the orange or blue mutants, I’d like their bodies after the army has taken what it requires for experiments. Just like that mutated turtle we encountered before.”

She had picked up a few insights about the mutants’ colors. The hues didn’t always correlate with a mutant’s energy, but rarer energy types often manifested as distinct colors.

Take the green turtle, for instance. It had once been an ordinary pet turtle, but after absorbing green life energy, its entire shell and skin transformed into a vibrant green.
