Chapter 38
Evangelina’s POV
As I walk out of the pack house with Tall, Nali and Ingrid trailing behind me I worry about Warrick alone in my pack. I pray to the goddess that he sees enough to realize we are not threats and leaves us alone. If he comes back with his army we may not survive it. Even if I have the subgroups and allied alphas. It would be a bloodbath and we would both lose many members. We are essentially equal in power.
“Are you going to do the thing?” Nali asks from beside me, pulling me out of my thoughts.
“Yes. And you all are there to observe. Nothing else.” I say and they all nod their heads. Ingrid knows about me because the goddess told her, so I have allowed her into my circle. She has been helping me with the block and she is very helpful when it comes to various pack information.
As I reach cell block C I nod to the guards.
“Nobody in or out.” I say and they nod their heads in response. We walked into the observatory. There are 2 rows of 5 seats that overlook an area that we use for surgeries, training, and funeral showings. Since we don’t have a lot of space in the veil, we have had to combine some things.
We look out to see two bodies laying on operating tables. One bear shifter and one wolf shifter.
“You will observe. This is for your educational purpose only. You will not tell anybody else what happens in this room.” I say and the three nod their heads. I nod my head once then make my way to the room with the bodies. This drains so much energy from me, but I need to know why they attacked, and if there are any more attacks coming.
I look at the two bodies. The wolf is the one who got his hand chopped off. That won’t work. I need the body to be intact. I sigh and look at the bear shifter. It looks like everything is there, so I wander around his body looking for the cause of death. Looks like the cause is either electrocution or drowning, meaning that everything is there. I take a deep breath and reach down deep, I only have a certain amount of time that I can do this before his brain starts deteriorating.
I breath out steadily and grab the bear man’s rough and cold hands.
First I focus on fire, warming his body up until the temperature is the same as mine. Then I focus on air, making his lungs inflate and deflate giving oxygen to his system. Next I focus on water, circulating the water in his body to move around the blood. Gradually I helped him sit up. Everything I am focusing on mimics the body movements. I then focus on the water in his eye muscles causing them to open and stare at me. His brown eyes are dead, but I can work with that. I send small jolts of electricity to this man’s brain and when I think there is enough activity I dive into his memories.
I close in on the one before the attack and rewind until I see him being dragged into what seems to be a hospital.
“Perfect.” A doctor says and I see a bunch of other bear shifters around the room. The doctor pulls out a syringe and stabs the long needle in at the base of the man’s skull. He struggles then stops and after a minute the man opens his eyes.
“Welcome back seven.” The doctor says and the man just blinks.

“Thanks.” He finally says.
“Now. i need you to go down that hall and join the others.” The doctor says with a smile on his face and seven nods and gets up and walks down a dark hall. Finding a room that has 6 other people in it and stands in line. After 20 people are in the room standing blankly another man walks in.
“Soldiers. This is a test. There is a rogue pack that we need access to. Find the break in their veil and attack. Break the veil of die trying. If you see this woman. Attack her hard, but don’t kill her.” The man says and shows a picture of.. Me. The soldiers then begin filling out the room. As seven walks out of the hospital somebody calls him. He turns around to see a woman walking his way.
“Seven you need to enter that room before leaving.” The woman says pointing towards the door on his left. He nods absentmindedly and walks into the pitch black room. Blinding light shines and as he adjusts to the light a shadow steps in front of his face.
“I know you’re watching my love.” The disgusting voice rings out and I know instantly who it is. My stalker. I should probably stop considering him my stalker, but I don’t know what else to call him.
“As you have gathered by now I am very, very powerful and could tell exactly what person you are going to choose to summon to go through their memories.” He says and he flickers.
“Consider this an early warning. This is just the beginning, I will be king soon and you will be my queen. My pet. I will take you as I please, like before.” He says flashing me images of some of the sick things he has done to me. I feel physically ill and I try to pull out of seven’s memories, but I feel stuck.
“As long as you can make it through the memories.” Stalker says and I gasp for breath as all of Seven’s memories flood around me.
I feel like I am drowning. All of the memories and feelings are too much. I am fighting and struggling to maintain air when finally the brain molecules must stop because I am pulled so quickly out of the memory bank that I almost fall.
I hear a big bang and focus my eyes on the body of the man’s brain I just went though. And got lost in. I collapse, feeling like all of my energy has been drained from me. I feel hands grab my arms and lift me up. It is hard to move, I can barely talk.
“What happened?” Ingrid asks.
“Stalker. Made. Stuck. Memories.” I wheezed and one of the girls gasped.
“Her stalker, the one who wants to be king. He must have manipulated this guy’s memories and she got lost in them. That’s why she is like this.” Tali says and Ingrid gasps.
“Oh dear. We need to get her some Ginko Biloba tea. Mind link somebody to have it ready.” She says and Tali nods. I am carried to the pack house and set on a couch. The girls holding me up and Marie hands me a tea cup. I slowly raise it to my lips.
