Chapter58
Warrick’s POV
Yesterday was tiring. I had been up most of the night trying to figure out how to be a better Alpha. I have no clue how to be ‘more human‘ as Evan put it. She was also not helping me when it came to thinking. She was beautiful yesterday, and the more I see her interact with my members and hers the more my thoughts
become conflicted.
She is my second chance and I wish I could let her in, but I can’t. I don’t want another gifted mate who can destroy me and my pack. She would have the power to do that. Plus it feels like Hadley was made for me, somehow. She may not be my gifted mate, but she feels like she completes a part of me I didn’t know I was
missing. To say I don’t know what I am doing says nothing, I am more conflicted than when I had to kill my
last mate. At least then I knew what I did was the right thing.
I was in the middle of pulling files of pack members who had found their mates when Hadley came in and dragged me to bed. After which I had a restless sleep.
I woke up around 6:00 to a mindlink from Jaxon, telling me to get ready because we were going to watch the
Rogue pack train. Confused and still in a daze I pulled some clothes on and brushed my teeth and styled my
hair. I miss my long hair, I was told it wasn’t professional to have long hair as King so I cut it.
I have natural waves, it’s shorter on the sides, but about 4 inches long on top. After I tame the black mess of
hair I walk out of the room, leaving Hadley to sleep. That girl can sleep. I’ll give her that.
As I walk down the stairs I see something flying towards my face and catch it before it could hit. I look down
to see that it is a muffin and I have just squished it into a ball. Frowning, I look towards the culprit who threw
“Dude, you weren’t supposed to crumble it into a ball. Here.” Jaxon says tossing me another one, this time I
catch it gently. I raise my brow in question. This doesn’t look like one of the staff made it.
I shrug my shoulders and begin to make my way down the stairs, I take a bite as I reach the bottom stair. I
stop right at the bottom of the stairs, with my eyes wide. The explosion of orange and sweetness in my
mouth had me stopping.
“Good isn’t it?” He asks as he hands me another one. This one looks like it is double chocolate chip, my
favorite. I shove the rest of the orange one in my mouth, almost swallowing it whole, then take a bite of the
chocolate one, stopping mid chew at the mint flavor that graces my mouth. Mint chocolate chip?
“What is this?” I ask and he smiles goofily at me.
“Mint chocolate chip. I knew you would like that one better, that’s why I gave you it last.” He says and I nod
and take another bite. The mint is strong, but not overpowering. I can still taste the chocolate and it is one of
the most delicious things I have tasted.
“Did Shirly make these? It’s not her norm.” I ask and he shakes it head.
“Alpha Evan made them. Said they are both a secret recipe.” He says and I begin to choke on the last of my
muffin.
“Alpha Evan?” I ask, coughing and clearing my throat.

“Dude, chill it’s not like the thing is poisoned.” He said while slapping me on the back. I just nod my head. She bakes too? I want to hate the muffin, but I can’t because it’s too good.
“Like her?” Viggó asks and I shake my head. No, I can’t go there.
“So Evan said that her pack trains at 6. I figured we could go and see how her training is done, then she could stay for ours and we could work out how to mesh the two together.” Jaxon says, oblivious to my inner
conflict.
“Sounds good.” I say and we start walking. Actually comprehending what he just said, I pause. “Did you just say her pack trains at 6?” I ask and he nods his head.
“I was appalled too. That is too damn‘ early to be getting my a’s whooped by you.” He says and I chuckle. As we make our way to the training field I see everybody is currently running. There are three circles, they look to be different age groups. It surprises me to see so many younger wolves training. Our training begins at 18. I am also surprised to see a few of my members in the younger group.
After the running stops they do some other warm ups and they split into pairs. I see Evan in the middle of the
older group while the other age groups are being instructed by two other people.
“First round no magic, no shifting, no weapons.” Evan says, exuding a power and sternness I have yet to hear
from her.
Viggo pushes to the front of my mind to watch. “Timer is set for ten minutes.” She says then blows a whistle. As soon as the whistle blows people begin sparing. I watch as she walks around assessing people. Her and a
handful of others are walking around watching people. She has a lot of people here, it looks like her whole
pack.
When the ten minutes were up, they added in magic. After another ten, they added shifting. After everything
was added, it was a free for all with no weapons. There was a chaos of wind, vines, electricity, water, teleporting, fire, magic, wolves, bears, everything. I don’t know how she kept up with it so nobody got hurt. She walked around giving pointers and showing battle moves here and there. I caught sight of the twins and Henry, and watched them for a while. They are very advanced, which surprised me. Henry was a strong
warrior before, but now he is even better.
I hear painful shouts then. I am slapped in the face with a powerful aura, almost matching my own.
“ENOUGH!” I heard roared through the clearing. My gaze was pulled back to Evan who was walking towards two younger people. They were heaving and glaring daggers at each other.
“You two know what happens when it goes too far. Or have you forgotten?” She asks. One of the men had holes in his clothes and blisters on his body while the other was coughing up some liquid.
“No Alpha.” They both gritted.
