Chapter 72
Lincoln’s POV
I am pacing the living room along with Henry and Marie. The twins took their mother somewhere so she couldn’t overhear us possibly talking about Warrick. Only the people who know why Evan left are here. Dalya, after evading us for what seemed to be forever, finally came in and told us that she took Evan somewhere where she could be as loud as possible without anybody else disturbing her.
“We need to go and make sure she is safe. Where is she?” I say as I pace the room for what feels like the
100th time.
“I. I can’t.” She says looking down.
“What do you mean you can’t?” Henry snaps at her and she shakes her head with a desperate look in her eye.
“She ordered you not to. Didn’t she?” I ask and she nods her head.
“Time to play the guessing game.” I say as I sit down trying to think.
“The guessing game?” Henry asks as he looks at me and Marie.
“We need to guess where she is. Alpha command is forcing her to not say where. If we guess, she can say no to the places that are wrong, but if we guess right she won’t be able to say anything.” I say and he nods his
head.
“Back to our pack lands.” Marie says, a quick no comes from Dalya’s mouth.
“An abandoned building.” Henry asks.
“No.” Dalya says. I am thinking while they are guessing. It’s only been 20 minutes since she was dropped off, but anything can happen in the 20 minutes. Where would she go to try to feel better, that is deserted. The light bulb shines bright in my head.
“Full Moon Pack.” I all but shout. Dalya’s face contorts, as she tries to answer. Sweat building on her forehead quickly.
“Full moon pack? That was abandoned 20 years ago.” Henry says in confusion.
“The lake.” I state not bothering to answer Henry. Dalya’s face turns into one of pain when she tries to
answer.
“I got it, Dalya you’re good.” I say as I mindlink Dalya’s twin brother, Chris, to come here. He pops in with a goofy smile on his face, but quickly drops it at the sight of us.
“What is it?” He asks quickly.
“We need your gift. I will be in charge of picturing where we are going. All three of us are going, we don’t know if there is danger or not.” I say and he nods his head. We all quickly grab hands as I picture the lake and the pier, a little further in front of me If she doesn’t want us there, I don’t want her to see us right av
I open my eyes to see that we are 20 feet away from the edge of the pier. The blood drains from my face as see a man with a spear looking thing behind Evan about to thrust.
“EVAN!” Marie yells. Evan moves just in time to have the spear shoved in her stomach, instead of through her

back into her heart.

“NO!” I yell and run towards the dock. Evan grunts as she pulls the spear from her stomach and stabs the man in the head with it. He falls to the ground dead, but she doesn’t stop, she continues delivering blow after blow to the dead man’s head, spraying her with blood and whatever else comes from the man’s mangled head. She is almost blinded by whatever is driving her.
“Evan, I think he is dead.” I say and her head snaps to me. Her eyes radiating a pain I haven’t seen in a very long time.
Marie comes up and kicks the man’s body in the lake. Evan stands up, but quickly doubles over, throwing up what seems to be blood.
“We need to leave now!” I yell as Chris transports us back to the castle.
Evangelina’s POV
“Look what we have here boys.” The larger man in the middle says stepping forward. I grunt in pain, and slowly make my way to stand up, failing to do so and landing on my knees.
”
“Awe look, Adler, I think she is having betrayal pains.” The shorter man to the right says, then laughs. They are all scragelly with dirty skin and dirty hair, the only detail I can make out is that they all have brown eyes. “Poor thing. Maybe we can help you.” Adler says, stepping forward, then looks behind him at the other two. Restrain her. We’re going to have fun today boys.” The two stomp down the pier towards me and I struggle with what to do. The pain spreads through me, but then lessens slightly. I can feel Veena struggling to take it. She is trying to take the full pain of the betrayal so that I can fight.
I wait for the two to come close before I jump on the one surprising him. I twist his neck and throw him off the pier. A pain shoots through me as I stumble and fall on the pier.
“You stupid b*tch!” Adler screams and runs towards me with a weapon I didn’t notice before.
It must have been strapped to his back. It is a spear, I knock it out of his hands with wind, but that causes me to connect with Veena and the pain shoves its way through. I start heaving, while the other guy kicks me in the face. Adler gathers his composure and grabs me by my, now loose hair, dragging me to the edge of the
pier.
“When I’m done with you you are going to regret that you little b*tch.” He says as he shoves my face into the cold water. I feel the sting from the other guy’s boot that cut open my cheek. I struggle in his hold, scratching his arms but it does nothing. He lifts me up to my knees and I feel a fist to the face.
This sends sparks through my whole body as the pain from my face now radiates with the pain in my heart. I try to breathe through the pain, but it’s too much to handle as Adler shoves my face in the water again.
He pulls me up and another punch to the face is delivered. I feel hot breath on my neck and the next words scared the sh*t out of me.
