Chapter 76
Warrick’s POV
I haven’t seen Jaxon since yesterday. Hadley has been by my side since the incident yesterday, ensuring that I have everything I need and insisting that I get my rest. I felt fine shortly after the incident. I am not sure what happened and the doctor’s are stumped. After Hadley left to go get me some food my mother insisted that I have my blood tested to ensure that it was only a one time thing.
The doctor was so quick about it that he was in and out before Hadley could even return with the food. I was so worried about why Jax left so angrily that I didn’t even register what was going on. He ignored me the rest of the day, which isn’t like him.
I guess that is why I am so surprised to see him on the training field.
He ignored me the whole warm up, but I was not too concerned about that because I was too busy looking for one person. She wasn’t there, and I was beginning to grow worried. It’s not like her to skip training, especially one she is supposed to be leading.
I tune out my thoughts, focusing on the exercises.
“Alright everybody, pair up.” Evan’s voice echoes through the clearing. I snap my head around looking for her. Something telling me that I need to see her to make sure she is okay. I stop when I see her on the side of the training field, opposite of me. She looks tired, and I see a mark on her cheek that wasn’t there yesterday. Did Hadley manage to scratch her during the attack?
At that thought Viggo bristles, growling slightly. I focus on Evan to calm him down.
Her hair is down, the natural black curls reaching mid back. I don’t think that I have ever really seen her with her hair full down. It’s beautiful.
She is wearing a looser, white t–shirt and some athletic joggers, with bare feet. Her look confuses me. Normally everything she wears is skin tight with boots so that during battle she doesn’t have to worry about the enemy grabbing onto loose clothing.
Viggo is calm now that we have had time to make sure our mate is okay. He pushed us to get closer, but I
didn’t allow it.
ter of the closest I turn around when I hear a throat clear from behind me. Jaxon is standing in the fighting square. We haven’t sparred together in a long time, this will be nice. The thought quickly vanishes when I register the murderous glare he is sending me.
The whistle blows and he launches at me, catching me off guard and punches me in the jaw so hard I
stumble backward.
“What the f*ck is your problem?” I ask in anger and he huffs.
“You don’t deserve her.” He all but growls at me.
“Why wouldn’t I deserve her? Hadley is perfect.” I answer, not even wondering why my first thoughts went to Hadley. He doesn’t answer, only launches another attack, which I block and counter with a kick to his ribs. “Not her you f*cking ignorant dumba*s. Your mate.” He sneers and Viggos hackles rise. I attack first this time, he blocks and then we begin into a hateful fight of fists, kicks and blocks.

You ignore the mate bond and purposefully hurt her. You are not the man I thought you were. You were doing better but then slid back into being a prick. He states when we begin to circle each other.
it’s none of your concern how I handle the situation.” I growl at him.
You’re an ***t. Just remember that for after the war when she rejects your a*s and become my chosen, I’ll treat her like the queen she deserves to be.” He says and I lose it.
Attacking in a blind rage, him doing the same. Each of our hits, delivered to genuinely hurt the other. He delivered a blow that I think dislocated my jaw and before I could even think, I moved. I didn’t register the. woman yelling stop until it was too late. My shifted paw swiped around catching something, then the next thing I know I am on my back, with a knee in it and my arm that has shifted back behind me. Sparks shoot up my arm calming me down slightly, Evan.
Evan moves up and stands between me and Jax, glaring at both of us as I stand.
“You two are done. Get your disgusting bodies off the field and to the infirmary.” She says and I cringe at her tone. I hang my head and wince at the pain. Viggo is whimpering in my head. I look back at Evan and notice the claw mark and blood tinting her shirt. I hurt her in my rage. Jax is right, I am a piece of sh*t.
I walk off the field as Hadley rushes behind me.
“Baby, are you okay?” She asks hurriedly. Viggo growls as I ignore her and continue to walk to the infirmary. I am pretty sure I have a decent amount of broken or fractured bones.
“My love, let me help you.” Hadley says as she snakes her arm around my waist. Almost as if her touch burned I jumped away.
“I don’t need your help, Hadley. Just go. I want to be alone.” I snap and the hurt in her eyes fills me with guilt.
“But I” She starts and I sigh.
“Just go, Hadley.” I say and she slumps off.
When I enter the infirmary I am led to a joint care room. Jax is sitting on one bed and glares at me as I sit on
the bed, wincing at the pressure on my tailbone
“I think you broke my a*s.” I say, hoping to make him laugh and it works slightly.
“Good.” He grunts. I turn to face him and he does the same.
“What happened Jax?” I ask, deflated. His eyes soften slightly.
“You have an amazing second chance mate and are throwing it away for a disgus
about being queen.” He answers, making me growl.
woman who only cares
“Alpha!” The doctor I saw yesterday all but yelled, as he rushed through the door.
“What, Doc? It’s just a fight that was taken too far.” I say and wince when I reset my jaw, as does the doctor.
“Oh that’s not why I am here. I have the results of your blood test.” He says looking around the room warrily.
“What is it? Did you find the cause of that agonizing pain yesterday?” I ask and he shakes his head.
“No. I am not sure what the cause of that was, but I found something worse.” He says, still looking around the
room like any minute the boogeyman will pop out and scare him.
“Well?” I ask, getting impatient.
