Evangelina’s POV

I am standing in the shower as Marie is washing my hair. I am naked, but I don’t care. I feel empty. The only

face I can see is Ziana’s. I keep going back and replaying the scene in my head.

Franklin telling me to go back with them, while I stare into Ziana’s eyes. Her bright purple eyes shifted from left to right, reinforcing my choice. The heartbreak when the transporter took Ziana away. Veena bursting out

and plowing through retreating enemies. Sobbing on the ground, while broken and bloodied. Marie coming and covering me, while telling Warrick to f off, then walking me back to my bedroom and starting a shower

again. Then it starts all over again and repeats.

I am pulled from my cycle when I feel a fluffy towel being dragged down my arm.

I take the towel from Marie and look into her eyes. Her eyes remind me so much of Ziana’s I am almost pulled

back into the cycle. I smile slightly and she does the same.

“I’m fine, go get cleaned up.” I say and she shakes her head.

“No can do, everybody is waiting in the conference room.” She answers and my eyes widen.

“How long have they been waiting?” I ask and she shakes her head and waves her hand.

“Not too long, they just got done cleaning up and trying to settle the people. Maybe 10 minuets.” She answers and I nod my head as she hands me a pair of black baggy sweatpants and a dark blue baggy t–shirt.

I raise my eyebrow at the choice of clothes.

“I thought you should be comfortable for this meeting. Might as well be comfortable as you deal with the

sh*t show that is about to explode.” She says.

“Ha well I guess no bra is comfortable?” I ask and she smiles.

“It is for me and you know letting those puppies’free at the end of the day is always the best feeling. If it’s

not, you’re crazy.” She says and I shake my head, but mumble true as I put the shirt on.

I throw my hair in a bun, throw on some slides and we make our way to the conference room.

“Who all is there?” I ask Marie and she shrugs.

“Who isn’t?” She asks me back and I blow out a breath of air. Lincoln meets us outside the door and his

brows crease in worry.

“You good?” He asks and I nod my head.

“Yeah, how many lost?” I ask and he looks down.

“So far 16 lost and 57 injured. We have counted 72 enemy bodies.” He responds as he opens the door for me and we step inside. I stop shortly after walking in, it is chaos.

All of my elders are here, Warrick’s counselors, My gammas, Tali, Nali, Iris, Jaxon, Linc, Henry and his parents, head warriors, and last but not least Warrick. Everyone is talking and some are even screaming.

I put my fingers to my lips and whistle. That does the trick because every person quits and looks at me.

“Everybody who does not have a say in updates, or strategic planning leave and you will be updated when we

are done. I say sternly, while looking around the room. All the head warriors leave, and I eye some of Warrick’s counselors who then high tall it out of the room. Everybody else begins to take a seat around the very large oak table, I feel Warrick’s anger as I make my way towards one of the seats with Linc and Marle following. They take a seat, but before I can Warrick marches over to me and gets in my bubble. His face is as red as a tomato.

“Why is your ex–mate and daughter attacking our pack? Are you the reason they are attacking us?” He growls, trying to contain his anger, I am blown away by his words.

“What did you just say?” I growl back.

“You heard me.” He says slowly, as he holds up a crumpled photo. One that is all too familiar. It is one of me, Xavier, and Ziana. I go to reach for the picture but he holds it away. “Why the f*ck is your ex attacking us? Because of you? You left him with your child and he wants you back?” Warrick raises his voice at me. That floors me enough for Veena to take over. She grabs his throat and pushes him against the wall. His blue orange eyes widen as electricity flows from my hand to his throat.

“You know nothing about us.” She growls as he flinches from the electric flowing into him.

“Evangelina. Stop” I hear from my side as a hand touches my free arm. Veena and I turn on the person and shove them. Linc stumbles back as I hear a gasp from behind me. I pay it no mind as I focus on the new threat.

“I told you never to call me that again Lincoln.” Veena and I growl at him as he lowers his head.

“Your outburst won’t help anybody. You need to start explaining Evan.” Linc answers me as I growl even more. I don’t know what I was expecting when I walked in here, but it wasn’t to be attacked like this.

I look down and start to take some deep breaths. There on the floor, next to my feet is the picture. I bend down to pick it up. When I grab it I hear a whisper from behind me.

“Luna Evangelina Montre.” I stand back up, clutching the picture in my hand as I turn my head to the person who said my name. Of course I shouldn’t be surprised when I realize that it is Iris. Her blue eyes hold tears in them as she stares at me. “The youngest luna in the past 500 years, needing special permission from the King. I should have realized it sooner.” She says.

“What the hell are you talking about?” Warrick asks his mother as I sigh and look down at the picture in my

hand.

“The man you saw today is not my mate. He is the one who killed my first mate

Full Moon pack.” I say as I rub my thumb over Xavier’s crumpled face.

“But the Full Moon Pack was decimated twenty years ago.” Warrick says.
