Chapter 87

Warrick’s POV

Well I feel like the worlds largest a*s. Why did I have the outburst? Maybe because of all of the stress, I haven’t been thinking right at all. I don’t know what is wrong with me. Jealousy and betrayal fueled me. Memories of being betrayed by my first mate and thoughts that Evan has a family. I take a seat in one of the two empty chairs in front of us and put my head in my hands. I am so tired of this sh*t show.

First finding out that some of my council are purposely not helping certain packs in the kingdom. Then the upcoming war. Evan showing back up, not that I see that as a bad thing now. Finding out that I was being poisoned, and the b*tch that has been doing it has ran away. Not to mention the overload of information Evan is throwing at me. I don’t understand how the Full Moon Pack wasn’t found and how the hell does she have the gift of electricity.I would have thought that it was Marie if I didn’t feel it coming from Evan’s hand. And last but certainly not least, what is up with her almost blue hue when she shifted into her wolf? Does it

mean something?

“Sweetheart. I am so sorry about what happened.” My mother says and starts to get up, but Evan raises her

hand to stop her.

“It is done, what we need to focus on now is planning.” She says and mother nods as tears brim her eyes.

“We need to start going over all of the information we know. Everything that happened today and leading up to today so that we can start forming a better plan.” Evan says and everybody nods.

The next hour is of everybody recounting anything special they saw with the attack today, while Nali takes notes on the white board for everybody to look at. I keep watching Evan. Part in shame and part in awe. She is conducting this very well, and I am more than happy to let her take the reins, we all know that my mind is a

damn mess right now.

After another hour of listening to some of the history with this disgusting man who wants my mate I am seething. Evan recounts some of the things she ‘learned while trapped, as well as since then with the attacks on her people. Also some visions she has had along the way.

“So tonight we mull over the information and start fresh tomorrow with any ideas on strategy.” She tells the room and people nod, then begin to leave. I am surprised when I notice that Marie, Linc, Nali, Tali, Henry and my mother stay put. I stay rooted. Still steaming about what Evan had to go thr h. Now I know why she was reliving those memories.

“How do you have the gift of electricity?” I ask, locking eyes with Evan and trying to calm myself with a change of topic. Evan avoids my gaze and huffs, looking around the room at all of the eyes on her. I note that only my mother has shock in her eyes, while the rest have some form of curiosity. Well, except Linc. This tells me that they all know about her extra gift, but the only person who truly knows is Linc.

“I got my wolf when I was 12.” She starts and my brows furrow, what does this have to do with anything? I don’t want to interrupt her to ask so I just wait it out.

“That is early considering that I am not even close to being from an alpha bloodline. I was already the odd wolf out because I could see the past and the present. The night before I turned 16, I was visited by mother moon. She told me that she was blessing me with my mate sooner than most, and that when I turned 18 | would be blessed with all of the gifts except transportation. I would also be blessed with knowledge. understand, but she told me not to tell anybody about what she told me. I didn’t and went on to mate with Xavier and have Ziana. Life was good until the attack. It happened 10 days before my 18th birthday. During the time I spent being held by Frankf*ck, I was visited again. Mother moon told me that I was being blessed by her and fate and if I didn’t do as they say to help save the future of wolves, they would strip me of the gifts and ultimately it would kill me. From then on I have had all of the gifts, besides transportation, and a sh*t ton of knowledge on how to train people, strategize, war, and surprisingly business.” Evan tells the whole story, while looking at a picture on the wall behind me.

“She gave you everything you needed to make your pack successful and win the upcoming war.” My mother says, summarizing what was just told. Evan’s gaze turns to my mother and she nods.

“Yes.” She answers. My mother nods and silence falls over all of us.

“So now that Hadley is gone and that dreaded love spell has been broken, are you two going to recognize the

mate bond? I need to know how much meddling to do.” Mother asks, once again breaking the silence. My

eyes widen as I turn my head toward her. She has one eyebrow lifted and is looking between me and Evan

“Mother.” I snap and she raises her hands in surrender.

“What?” She asks, while trying to make an innocent face.

“No, Iris, I don’t think so. Even before the love spell was cast, Warrick did not want me. He has done nothing but prove to me how little he thinks of me. I won’t recognize a bond with a person who looks down upon me.” Evan answers and I quickly turn to look at her.

Viggo growls lowly inside me, cursing me for messing this up. He has always wanted her, even when I didn’t.

Evan’s eyes stick on mine as I see the disappointment and sadness in them. I also see the small hope she has. Maybe it’s for me to disagree with her. I am not sure, but before I get a chance to speak somebody else

beats me to it.

“You should be ashamed. You’re killing her by not recognizing the bond and you don’t even know it.” Linc bursts and I can’t help the growl that tears from me, at the thought of Evan dying by my hands.

“What the hell are you talking about?” I growl at the same time Evan says his name in warning. I stand from my seat to level myself with him. I don’t miss the apologetic glance he quickly throws Evan’s way before he

continues.

“If you don’t mate before the war she will die.” Linc says, voice serious, but face full of sorrow. I shake my head to make sure I heard him correctly and when I open my eyes I find Evan id smack to Linc cheek. As soon as the room sounds with the booming pop of her hand connecting with his face, the room erupts. Chairs skidding and shouts all over the place as I just stand there staring. I finally pull myself out of my daze to Evan yelling at Linc. I grab her arm and she whips around, her face red with anger, but her wolf isn’t out.

“What is he talking about?” I ask her calmly and she shakes her head, not wanting to answer. Now this upsets me and Viggo, both of us pushing out the question again.

“We’re only going to ask this one time. What is he talking about?” Viggo and I growl. Her gray eyes shining with something I can’t quite place, but she quickly masks it and pulls her arm from my grasp.

“What he is talking about, is the fact that my vision was a Hyro. Warning me that come battle time if I am not queen then I will die. I have accepted my fate, so please leave it be.” She says, emotionless.

“What exactly did you see?” Mother asks from right behind me. I didn’t even hear her move. Evan huffs and

looks at her.

If we win, which is more than probable, but still not guaranteed, there are two options. One of the visions shows me and Warrick standing side by side with our people behind us. He is wearing a crown and I am not. By the end of the battle I had died, but we had won. Then the other option shows we are both wearing crowns, and we both survive and win the battle.” She answers. My face pinches at the thought of her not making it. Why take her and not me? She is a far better leader that I am. My mother pulls me from that though with the clap of her hands.

“Goddess me. Lucky for you two, you have me. Everybody but the soon to be love birds out.” She orders as everybody starts slowly walking towards the door. Looking as lost as I feel.
