The next morning, Warrick has called upon 26 people for the “emergency meeting“. I am currently waiting outside the room with Nali. Tali, Celest, Leviticus, my dragon elder, and Constantine, one of the best fae readers I have. With Nali pregnant, I only feel comfortable letting her read 1, at most 2 people. The rest of us will have to split everyone in the room.

“So much for starting on time.” Tali whispers under her breath.

“Hey! I heard that. You’re lucky I love you, little niece.” Ingrid says, turning the corner of the hall to face us. She is slightly disheveled and her cheeks are blushed.

“Must be out of shape if the short distance from the front to here gets you in that state.” I say, eyeing her as she humps out a breath.

“Mhmm. Well since you are here, we need to get started. They all have been sitting in there for about 10 minutes and you know how people get when they sit with no answers. You will spread out in the room, sticking to the walls. I am standing next to Warrick, to hopefully ruffle some feathers. Nali, walk straight in, you will get the one in front of you. Leviticus you’re next to her, reading the next 5 if any seem off let me know. Indrid you are in the back reading the next 5, I will read the next 6, Tali you are on the other side reading 4, then Celeste will read the last 5. Constantine, you will be reading everybody as they walk out of the room in case we miss something. Henry and Marie will say something to Beta Jackson or Lincoln and they will assign a warrior to detain the suspect. Ingrid you used your hand to communicate who you find, Marie and Henry are in the room and will be watching for the numbers. The rest of you mindlink the numbers to Henry and Marie. With your back to the wall, the numbers are 1 through 5 right to left, hold up the number on your hand and one of them will communicate for you. Any questions?” I ask, looking at each of them in turn

to receive the good to go.

“Um. I can read more than one person.” Nali says and I shake my head.

“IF you can, read the person next to the other. Leviticus will still be reading them, but it doesn’t hurt to have

another check. Do not over do it.” I warn as she scoffs at me and folds her ar I give her a pointed look and

“Yes, Alpha.” She responds and looks down with a frown.

“Good if there are no more comments or questions, let’s begin.” I say and motion to the door. Nali enters first,

the rest of the group follow. I walk in last with my head held high and look around the room. All of the people are sitting in a U shape, around a conference table. Warrick is up front, with Henry and Marie standing

against the wall behind him. I let the door shut behind me and take my stand next to Warrick’s left, not too

close maybe a foot apart, but I feel the eyes on me from the advisors.

“Now is that everybody, your highness? Can we please proceed, I have training to conduct.” I shift my eyes to a man named Larry. He is Warrick’s general. An older, more stout man with a braided beard and a, rounder

takes over. I feel her anger and jealousy for Warrick as she marches to the balding older man. His brown eyes widen as he takes a step back, but Veena calls upon the wind and makes it push him closer to us.

When he is in arm’s reach, she grabs him by the throat and pulls him over the table, throwing him to the ground like he weighs nothing. All hell breaks loose in the room, but she is only focused on one thing. Killing the man who forced a fake mate bond onto our mate.

He sputters and tries to crawl away, fear evident in his eyes.

“You dare try to take MY mate away?” She growls as she stalks him like prey.
