Erica was on high alert. Debra, in her room, thought she heard car engines.

"They're here," she said.

Erica blinked. "Here? Where?"

"They're coming! Your ears are sharp," Randy exclaimed, joining the others at the door.

But then, the footsteps stopped.

"We're entrusting Debra to you. But first..." Erica held out her hand, gesturing for cash.

Randy nearly choked at her bluntness.
