**The Unseen Kingdom That Followed Me Into Every Dream by Alyndra Meron Valeen 115**
“It should be straightforward to disseminate this information. Sebastian’s youth and relative anonymity actually play to my advantage, but what about him? What am I supposed to say to him, for heaven’s sake?!” Baron grumbled, his voice barely above a whisper as he sat in his office chair, the weight of the world pressing down on him.
He felt as if he were caught in a treacherous game, trapped between the Devil and the deep blue sea, with no clear path to safety.
After what felt like an eternity of restless pacing, he finally mustered the courage to dial Sebastian’s number. His heart raced as he pressed the buttons, each beep echoing his anxiety.
Meanwhile, Sebastian had just pulled into the parking lot of his apartment, the engine of his car humming softly. He glanced at his phone and saw Baron’s name flash across the screen. “Uh, hi, Mr. Grimwald.” His voice was tentative, laced with uncertainty.
“Mr. Goldman? How may I assist you today?” Baron replied, his tone smooth and professional, masking the turmoil that churned within him.
‘Has he already wrapped up scouting members for my company? Talk about efficiency,’ Sebastian mused, a flicker of admiration mixed with apprehension crossing his mind.
“Um, I’m not quite sure how to put this,” Baron began, his voice faltering slightly. “I truly apologize, but you… you drew a bit too much attention today. I had no idea things could spiral so far out of my control. I think it would be best if I had my PR team manage that attention for now, before it turns into a real issue. What do you think?”
Baron struggled to frame his words carefully; it was a delicate situation. Admitting that Julius had ordered this course of action was simply not an option.
“Oh, that’s fine. Good. I don’t want to be too well-known either,” Sebastian replied, relief washing over him.
He appreciated Baron’s willingness to help him navigate the unexpected spotlight that had suddenly illuminated his path. As he stood on the precipice of launching his own company, he knew that any trouble would be an unwelcome distraction.
“Thank goodness! I’m so sorry for all of this! Listen, I’ve arranged for my PR team to spin your performance at the forum. I… sort of mentioned that you’re just an actor I hired,” Baron added, his voice tinged with embarrassment.
When Sebastian had first agreed to keep a low profile, Baron had felt a wave of relief. But now, the implications of his lie weighed heavily on him. He had inadvertently drawn attention to Sebastian, showcasing his talents to Astergrad’s elite business circles, only to dismiss him as merely an actor reading a script.
Yet, I could tolerate his drastic change if it meant that my company and investments could progress smoothly. It would likely take a few more days to finalize the legal documents for my new venture, which granted me precious time to research potential companies and projects to invest in.
I pressed the button for my floor, the elevator humming softly as it ascended.
The doors slid open on the first floor, revealing a familiar face I should have anticipated—Hera.
“How did you get here?! Did you stalk me?” I demanded, my frown deepening as I met her gaze. I made no effort to conceal the disdain that flickered in my eyes.
“Do you hate me this much?” she asked, her voice tinged with bitterness, a sardonic smile playing on her lips. “You were avoiding me at Baron Inc., weren’t you?”
Hera stood there, her emotions a tangled web of hurt and frustration. In that moment, face-to-face, she finally allowed the complex feelings she had been nursing to surface, raw and unfiltered.
